Need information 1954 Hornet engine removal

Does the engine and  auto trans need to be removed as unit? need to get engine work done . Thank you!

    thank you super wasp ! I have the the club re print Hornet manual  manual. Not much information on 4 speed automatic  ?? I have a 1954 Hornet the transmission is big as the engine ! lol!! I,m Charley Sipes

    Yiu can pull just the engine.
