8 cylinder motor serial number location

I have an 8 cylinder block I would like to id. I can't seem to find a serial number on it, only the casting numbers.
Where are the serial numbers located on these?

    30000  =  1948-1950.   Date codes should verify this date.

    Casting date of Nov. 8, 1938 or 1948. So in a 1939 or 1949 car... Is it a rectangle pan, or a wide pan at the rear? That will tell you if it's 39 or 49.

    Cast in 48 for a 49 model year car.

    Kerry, I will take a photo of mine tomorrow where the number is.  It is in the front on the machined pad on the top near the exhaust manifold.
