Metal Piece in '54 Hornet Fuel Tank?
I am cleaning and replacing the sender unit in a '54 Hornet fuel tank. There is a conical metal piece loose in the tank. What is this? It's too big to be removed via the sender unit hole.

Does the fuel pickup tube go through that hole in the top of the "cone"?

No, the hole in the cone is too small for the pickup tube.
