Jet Tire Sizes
Is there a way to determine the correct tire size that came with my 54 Jet (1D)? The car I am working on is a 2 door that appears to have a three speed manual with overdrive as it's only option. I know the cars came with either 5.9x15 or 6.4x15 tires. Would tire sizes be dictated by the transmission type, axle ratio, rim width (4" or 4.5") or just customer option? The car is currently wearing an old set of G78x15 tires that are too big in my option and there is no spare in the trunk. I would like to buy the correct size to keep the speedometer as close as possible.
Thanks,
Rich

It looked like I found what I need in the speedometer gear chart on Ken Cate's Website. If I read the chart correctly the drive gears are all 5 tooth and the driven gears are either 15, 16, 17 tooth depending on tire size and rear axle gear ratio.
