Surf Green Paint Code Needed

Does anyone have a current PPG paint code for 1953 Surf Green? My wife fell in love with the green and yellow color combination on this 53 Hornet that was at the Erie PA National last year. She would like to have the Jet project I am working on painted in the same color. I am not sure if the top on this was a factory white as it appeared as more of a shade of yellow in person.

Thanks,

Rich

The top wouldn't be white. Most likely cream. They used different names for it in different years, ie: "Honey Cream", ""Coronation Cream", "Cornish Cream", etc.

As always, I suggest that you go to "Autocolorlibrary.com" and search there.

  • I found the current code as 41300 in a google search along w Q-133

Thanks, I'll check with my local paint store tomorrow to see if it is in the PPG system. When I was looking for the Southern blue a few years ago for my Hornet, they told me the numbers didn't mean anything as the pigments used to tint the paint change every couple years to keep up with newer cars and the formula would have to be derived using the new pigments or I would have needed to digitally scan another car to get the correct color. Hopefully it is current.
