Camshaft Bearings for 6cyl 212 Motor
Greetings.
I am looking for NOS camshaft bearings for 212ci 6 cyl motor. There are three bearings and are made of 100% white metal.
I believe the part numbers are - BM162181, BM162182 & BM162183 = unfinished bearings. MF162627, MF162628 & MF162629 = reamed bearings.

I have those - NOS- Price seen on Ebay is $180 with free shipping - if this is reasonable I would sell a set at $150 and $5 for shipping - don't know how else to price them. Gert

I have pressed out and saved the old 212 camshaft bushes if anyone wants to re-whitemetal them.
I was very surprised that someone actually had NOS bearings for this motor.

The NOS cam brgs are from small : 1.565 ID 1.7 OD, width is .684 Next size is 1.970 ID, 2.106 OD and 1.065 width, Last biggest one is 2.0 ID , 2.135 OD and width 1.250. My email is HETgtkristi0@gmail.com. The box lists them as 1941-48 6 cyl (of course 1948 is incorrect). Thanks, Gert (drop HET and the 0 is a zero).

Workshop literature indicates that these bearings should likely never need replacing, with which I agree. Even if they are worn they will only be worn on the bottom, and this will not affect anything. As the engine is splash lubricated there is no oil pressure to worry about. there will be no noise generated, because the tappets are adjustable. Be aware that the cam bearings are different from 1938 onwards, and not interchangeable with the ealrier versions.

Geoff is right - except when the shop routinely removes them or destroys them in cleaning.

Ah yes, the old "We know what we are doing" syndrome! Another favourite of machine shops is not fitting the shims in the main bearings.
