Steering box

Can anyone tell me, with certainty, if a '40 super six steering box can be replaced with a '47 Commodore box, without modification?

OK, in the 1940 and 46-47 parts book, the six cylinders cars shared the same two tooth rollerbox. The Eights probably had the better three roller tooth sector shaft and worm. If you can find a 46-47 eight cylinder box, it might be a nice upgrade. Note that if you use the eight cylinder box, you must use the eight's pitman arm, drag links are the same.

  • Thank you Ken.
