My daughter went to the grocery store and found this plate for the movie cars.

Of course when she saw Doc Hudson on it she had to buy it for me.

This isn't necessarily related to the "plate" theme, but some enterprising Hudsonite could make some modest spending money by creating and selling cardboard (vinyl?) filler panels for the '51 windshield halves, with black 'eyeballs' silkscreened on a white background. These could be slid into the windshields of '51 Hudsons on display at car shows this summer, creating one or more "Doc Hudsons" for the delight and merriment of the young folk. Of course, the movie will have run its course by mid-July, but it will be fun while it lasts!
  • Well my hat is off to the mechandising and advertising team associated with this movie. The hype is a fever pitch... My Grandson's showed up on Sunday nite both sporting DOC Hudson tee shirts! Naturally they had to get Grandpa to take them for a ride in our Hudson to celebrate thier TEES.

Yep. that's the genius of Disney. Can you imagine a Cars ride at Disney World?
  • My wife went to the store Sunday, and noticed that a lot of the cereals that have the "Cars" toys, had been opened, and robbed of the toy. Anybody else seen this in your area?

Wkitchens, what city/state is this happening? Haven't ever seen it here in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, regardless of the promo. Fond du Lac is a city of about 45,000 and we get our share of drifters from Milwaukee/Chicago, so we're not without crime; but robbing cereal premiums right out of the store is something I haven't heard of or seen around here. How petty can one get?
  • Stopped at WALLY-Mart Tues. eve., seen a pallet of 5 Qt. boxes of Valvoline motor oil, all the characters from the "Cars" movie on the box label. Several boxes of 'Doc Hudson' along with another character, looks like alot of merchandise getting in on the advertising band-wagon ! Glad to see a Hudson involved !

  • I posted this before. The Valvoline boxes do not contain Doc Hudson or any other animated cars. Look carefully at the box and in small letters it indicates that the box contains the #10 Valvoline car.

I was at Wal Mart and say a big plastic Doc that talked and made an engine noise or something...kinds squished in proportions though. Someone on this forum who can should post a list of all the Doc Hudson toys and memorabilia for those of us who are going to go nuts on this one. LOL

I think displaying some Doc Hudson stuff with our cars at shows would be good for getting young folks interested in Hudsoning though.
  • I came home yesterday from work and had a new Doc Hudson toy like that. You shake it and it revs up and talks. It also pulls back and rolls, but I am leaving it on the original package. It is out of proportion like Aaron says though.

I was told by Disney that they ARE making an attraction based on "Cars". I know this because they put my 51 Coupe on their list to promote it. Hopefully, they'll use it.

I just got a message on my phone from my partner at work. He was at the Disney store last night with his kid, and said there was a buch of Doc Hudson stuff there. By the way I have the little talking toy too. Planning to leave it in the package , just not sure how I am going to change the batteries and not wreck the package when they die.
  • The talking Doc is a hoot. Do yourself a favor and buy one to play with (my 15 month old enjoys it almost as much as I do) My wife loves it when I wreck it into the furniture at top speed. She also loves the Doc Hudson slot car track that's been sitting on the dining room table for the last two weeks.

I bought 2 of these at the Disney store. One I let my 3 year old have to play with and the other I am keeping in the package in the closet.

I saw 2 other items that have Doc Hudson in them. Both at Wal Mart. One was one of those electric slot car race tracks with Lightning and Doc racers about the size of matchbox cars. There's also a Playstation 2 CARS video game. I'm not sure if Doc Hudson is in the game and you can race as him or not yet but I'm going to look into it. Every time I go to Wal Mart the rack with CARS toys is nearly empty with almost no sign of Doc.
