40 Convertible

I am redoing a 40 Super Six Brougham Convertible. Does anyone know if the top assembly is the same for 1940 and 1941 Brougham models?

A few months back I recall a thread discussing quarter windows on a Brougham. Mine is a 1940 Model 41 Super Six Brougham with quarter windows. Could this setup be original ?as an option ? or do I have a top from a model 44 Deluxe Convertible ?

Also; I am looking for several trim items for the car. The previous owner sent several trim items out for rechroming/ polishing and can't recall where he sent them to. I am in need of a grille surround and grille bars. The center vertical grille trim, the upper door trim (both sides) and the trim around the upper rear (cowling).

If anyone has these items in any condition for sale please contact me at 910-264-9700 or e-mail at: natcailm@juno.com

I saw this car during the Eastern Regional! Looks like a good solid restoration candidate! Sorry, I have no idea whether it had the quarter window, though.

Looks like the '41's had roll-down rear quarters:

whereas the '40's had no quarters:

But what do I know, a humble 1937 owner?
  • THE 41S HAD FOLD DOWN REAR QUARTERS THAT WENT DOWN WITH TOP AND WENT UP WITH TOP, THE SAME UP TO 47. 40S WERE MORE LIKE THE EARLIER CONVS SAME AS YOUR 37, I THINK jON. HAVE MANY NEW 40 PARTS, INCLUDING MOST THE THREAD OWNER NEEDS. EMAIL ME albrighthudsons@msn.com

The '40 convertible COUPES had no quarter windows. The convertible broughams did have them, as did those from '37 on. I'm reasonable sure the '37-'40 convertible brougham pieces are the same, but doubt they'd interchange with '41-'47, which was a "new" body, with power top, etc.
