That looks pretty darn nice. I would still want to get under it and look for frame rot. But by the look of it might be a nice ride for the price.0

Recently the price of Hudsons has gone out of sight....Could it be the influence of the Movie CARS or inflated prices driven by such outfits like
Barrett-Jackson?

I don't think so the prices are being asked but they are not being paid. The coupe looks like about the same price as a couple of years ago when I was looking before I bought my 51 Hornet.
The convertibles have been creeping up but not the huge jumps. As said before the Cars movie might not be viewed by the people with the cash to buy these cars and would they care. I for one would not buy based on a movie unless the seller was selling a talking car, then I might spend the bucks LOL0 -

You can't find a nice driver # 3 Hornet Club Coupe for $15,000. Last year you could. Now your looking at $20,000 to $25,000. Hudsons have been under valued and underappreciated for years. Popularity and brand recognition drives up prices. No one who has seen the movie or the merchandising can intelligently argue that "Cars" has not and will not increase the popularity and recognition of Hudson. However, how much prices are affected can certainly be debated and values will remain to be seen. Regardless of "Cars", Hudson prices have been increasing and on some cars and some parts, dramatically. Some here may lament the old days when you could pick up some of these beautys for next to nothing but those days are long gone. Those lamenters need to think of all the appreciation on the homes they own.:D0 -
Arion that jives with what I am seeing as well. I have seen some good deals out there and I do not use ebay to guide my views. You can find good deals and crazy deals. Depends where you look. I prefer to deal with private owners and smaller dealers.0

Several cars listed as #3 cars are advertised at $6000 to $8500. The car for $13,000 I would bet is still for sale or if sold went for less than the asking price. I checked Collector Cars Ads and there are 3 Coupes for sale from $2500 to $6000. The $6000 car has been advertised for months. I checked Hemmings and there are two coupes for sale one is $3000 and one is $29,000. Will he get $29,000? The car is for sale by a dealer and I have purchased several cars from a dealer and have found that they can be purchased for a lot less than the asking price.
There is a dealer in N. Calif that has had 4 Hudsons for sale for the last 6-8 months. He said that since the movie "Cars" he has had more interest but no takers. His comment is that a Hudson sells about as well now as when new. He said he wished they were a Chev or Ford because they would be gone by now.
I have a 54 Conv. and a hot rod 50 Pacemaker and know that if I want to sell the cars there is a limited market.
I believe with all orphan cars we can enjoy them and have fun driving and meeting with other owners but know there is not a huge following of the cars.
I have followed the WTN aswell. For the most part, the only coupes out there and available are either totally restored or total projects. There are almost NO # 3 drivers. Read the definition of a # 3 car. It is classified as "Very Good", a "20 footer", "completely operable original or older restoration", etc. Some of those cars that I think you mentioned were #5 or # 4 cars at best. Most Hornet Coupes were sold when I called about them. If I recall, that $8,500 Hornet coupe was probably the only truely drivable running # 4 car and it had significant frame rust issues. I spoke to the seller and also got pic's. Still, not a bad deal considering the market. Show me a solid true and real # 3 51-53 Hornet Club Coupe and I'll buy it today for $15,000 cash. They simply ARE NOT available unless you get very lucky. I found and bought a very nice 51 Hornet Club Coupe (# 3 car) only two months ago for $15,000. I got very lucky. I drove it to the Western Regional. While at the meet, Rob and Quentin refered two seperate individuals to me as they thought I wanted to sell it. I turned down an offer of $21,000 and this guy also owns Hudsons. He said he did not want another project car but wanted a nice driver. I had another offer this weekend at the local cruise in (no forsale sign). I think the car would get $25,000 today on E-bay... just like the last Club Coupe that sold in similar condition. I believe I'll do alot better in six months or so should I decide to sell it.
I'm putting my money where my mouth is guys. Find me a 20 footer, a nice Hornet club coupe for $15,000 and make yourselves some commission. I would love to be surprised.0 -

This looks to be a pretty nice example of a Business Coupe. Too bad the seller didn't include any pictures of the underneath.
I'm planning on doing something similar to the rear of the 49 - but the base will be higher on the platform so the dog can stick his head out the window and have some extra storage underneath for dog food, poop bags and water...it is "Rambos Ride" after all:rolleyes:

Very nice car. For what the old car price guide is worth, says... $12,180 for a # 2 car. The price guide is just that, only a guide.0 -
