I was trying to search the forum because someone said they were taking their stepdown to the Puyallup Good Guys car show this weekend. But the page has an error on it and the search is broken so a new post "Anyone going to Puyallup this weekend?"

Yeah, I'll be around - is that the Kirkland Car Show date this year? Last year I took my 76 CJ-5 down there...this year I only have parts...:(

why don't you market some of your hudson "inventions" maybe a set of gas door springs, or the power cowl, or hood support bracket kits?

just thought about that while going over your website...

As good as they are, you should start making patch repair panels for trunks and the like...

Thanks for the cudos! Sorry about the website right now it's slow and cranky. Recently I lost my power supply, Nic card, and wireless router and since getting it back up it's been even slower than it should be...good news is I think I have isolated the problem and with a little luck this weekend it will be back to a "tortoise pace" instead of the "molasses on a cold winters day" pace!

Those torsion springs were fun but after I made them I found out k-gap sells them for 5.00 ea (or used to..) But a worthwhile exercise non-the less because there are always those types of springs everywhere and you can't just go buy them off the shelf.

The power cowl would probably never work with the original stuff still in there and really all I did was make a bracket in my vise and weld some collars together..now if I hade a metal lathe I could turn a nice coupler...

Which brings me to the final problem..having the correct tools to do the job, to do any kind of production or even one off copies from a pattern really requires some good metal working tools - some of the ones I have now are adequate but won't hold up - for instance the hand bead roller I used for making the trunk panels. It still works but was really made for 18guage or lighter and the trunk panel sheet metal is 16 Guage - it was a bear to do by hand and the tool was groaning about it all the way!

But - I'm in the process of looking for a new house with a shop or better shops and who knows I may get some extra tools for the new shop and might be able to do some extra fabrication work.

Once I get a new place work on "Rambos Ride" will heat up pretty quickly...maybe this year by the end of the year it will be on the road...yeah...that's it, this year...I think I said that last year - but that's what happens when you do a build on shoestring and the shoestring breaks!

    Thanks again!

I went to the Puyallup Good Guys on Friday, midday. I didn't see any Hudsons during the time I was there, but perhaps I was distracted by my kids.

I did see a cool Juke Box trailer, though. I love to see things out of the usual.

I was the guy who started the thread originally, but then found I could not go due to a family commitment. I believe I posted it on the Street Rod section of the board, and that's why many couldn't find it. Goodguys definately appeals more to the rodder types.
