as I recall those were built on '41 C8 chassis. I know a few of them still exist, think Ed Souers in Ind. may have one of them.

 I seen in one Los Angeles area in the late 70's, I think it was a '38 hudson. He wanted $3,500 for it and my WIFE Said "No". :(:(:(
  • i have been informed that a h.e.t. member in chicago, mr. souza owns it. sam knows this car and it is still with us. some up to date pics would be nice if anyone has some. thanks, dermott.

I have some nice pic's of Gus' purple custom, but posting them is such a major pain in the a**. I wish there was a better way.

It's fairly simple to upload a photo either to the Hudson Photo Album Site http://groups.msn.com/HudsonEssexTerraplaneBulletinBoard/_whatsnew.msnw (where you can group your photos together in your own album), or to the Classiccar Photo Gallery http://www.classiccar.com/photopost/index.php .

Then, you can post a link to the photo here, or you can even post the photo here at the Forum by listing its URL in the special box (hit the little square yellow icon to get the posting form).

It is indeed very difficult to upload a photo directly to the forum, unless it is very, very small.

No offense, Jon, but for you it may be a simple procedure...for me, it's still a pain.

Case in point.... I posted a couple of pic's on the Classiccar Photo Gallery. What little yellow icon are you talking about?
  • I remember in the early1950's there was an article on how to build one out of a 40 Hudson in one of the magazines. I found one in Jessup Maryland about 1966, Rich Vensa( past HET member bought it) What happened after that who knows? Also Tim Hutchins in Burlington Iowa had one( he was also a member of HET). He had started a club called the Sport Custom Registary, Don't know where he is at now either. That was in the early 70's.

Hudsonguy, first one must post the image somewhere on the internet (such as the Hudson Photo Album site, or Classiccar's "Photo Gallery").

In order for the photo to appear here on the Forum, you first hit the NEW THREAD or POST REPLY button (depending on what you want to do).

If you hit either button, the simplified reply form opens up. On it -- and above the large white window in which you type your message -- are a series of icons. There is a square yellow icon (sadly these have no labels to identify them, but it's the 'post image' icon) -- hit it. You get an Explorer User Prompt window. Now, go to the place where you posted your photo and extract the URL (address) from it, and copy / paste it into the blank space on the window.

Hit "OK" in the user prompt window, and the photo should appear next to your message in the Forum.

(To extract your URL, simply place cursor on the image, right-click, then (in the box that opens) click on PROPERTIES. In the box that opens, look for the ADDRESS line. That's your URL. Simply copy / paste.

A quicker way is simply to copy the photo's URL and paste it (as text) right into your message. Anyone can click on it and be taken to the photo you've referenced. No photo will appear next to your Forum message...but folks will be able to go to the photo immediately.

(Disclaimer: sometimes I've tried to copy / paste the URL from an enlarged photo in the Hudson Photo Album website, and it won't work. The enlarged photos seem to work about half the time. You should be able to post the thumbnail photo with no problem, though.)

Google still shows Tim Hutchins on Brick Street in Burlington where's he's resided for years...although I haven't talked with him for many years. He had developed a registry including the Souers sport custom which now belongs to John Pontius in Auburn, Indiana. I believe club founder Meritt Marks had one many years ago as well. Wasn't one listed on eBay a couple of years ago? Seems many were built.
