I have a 1950 Hudson Commodore and recently when I put my headlights on the overdrive quits. Battery, generator, voltage regulator all check out.

Any suggestions as to the cause?

Many thanks-

That's easy. Just keep your lights off! LOL!

    But SERIOUSLY, folks...

When you say, "my overdrive quits". Do you mean, you are scooting down the highway in overdrive, you pull the headlight switch, and suddenly it kicks down into third? Perhaps if you could go into a bit more detail...

John, it sounds like you have the o/d relay connected wrongly. It should come from the "A" terminal of the voltage regulator, so that the overdrive only works when the generator is charging. Sounds to me like you may have the relay connected to headlight supply circuit, hence the voltage drop when you turn the lights on causes the relay to drop out. Just a wild guess.

    Geoff.
