    well harry with some step/down cv's selling in the $1000,000 range a $45k bid just doesn't get it if you find one cheap I would buy it

    There are currently Pacemaker and Wasp converts listed for 35K and 45K. Project cars come up now and then. I think there are still some out there to be found for decent money. IMHO, a $100,000 stepdown convert would have to be a truly concours professional grade level restoration and sold somewhere like at B.J. No one will get 100K from a Hudson club member... they are used to buying them for 15K back in the day!

    This may sound a bit like rising to a bass lure... (pun intended), but I recently connected a person who has the desire, enthusiasm and funds to restore a Hudson convertible. That person and a convertibel owner who has a badly deteriorated, albeit not rusted Hudson Hornet convertible came to an amicable price and the car is changing hands. There are others who come to this forum who have benefited from myself and others who know where reasonably priced cars exist and are available. I am not attempting to attract email inquiry... I am trying to make a point. If you want a Hudson convertible, restorable examples exist... as do rusty hulks that can be used to bring back a Hollywood as a convertible.



    I suspect a Hudson restoration done by a professional restoration shop will exceed $100k... my last adventure with hi dollar convertibles was a 48 Buick Roadmaster 8 Convertible coupe... that car cost over 65K to restore in 1992... and the bottom fell out of the market and it sold for $25K at a no reserve auction... three years ago it brought more than$150K... so price and timing are relative. Restoration by a determined Hudson affectionato will produce similar if not better results than the professional. Still the cost is labor plus parts. Point... Hudson Stepdown convertibles are available... the end cost is purchase price PLUS the route to restoration.



    Great to know there are still folks willing to tackle hulks which a few short years ago were overlooked as impossible to restore cars. Keep looking ... reasonably priced restorable Hudson convertibles can still be found.
