hi all first post for me
im with the hudson essex and terraplane club and get the
national and local news letters they rock. i have a 54 jetliner
i heard someone was makeing rocker pannels for them but i was
also want to know if anyone is makeing floor pannels and if they
are, $?. ive already got the car on jacks and i am in the process of sandblasting and paint stripping. ive seen a pic on this form of a
blue hornet? anyway this guy took two engine stands and changed them
so when they were mounted on his chasis he could rotate it so he could sandblast underneath the car, also on all four corners he had what looked
like trailer tounge stands the type that cranks down with a swivel wheel underneath. theese looked heftyer then avrage because they had a pumatic
tire instead of somthing allot "wimpier". I was thinking about doing this on
my car any pointers? my drivetrain is half rebult hydramatic rebult also the dana 44, the 202 is torn down and i have some cracked rings and a gouge on #1 cylinder as well as lips on the tops of the cylinders, a flat cam worn out brass oil pump gear, crank has been magnafluxed and there is a crack on #5 journal, i have had this engine running at one point. i live in renton washington, and there are two machine shops near me and i also know of buffalo restorations, hagens auto parts, halls auto "he has a cupple jets havent seen them though". i could find another crank for the 202 if some one
cane save the block or i could find another 202 or i could gasp.................
no not a csb never!!! but a 7x with a blower from uncommon enginering MABIE!!!:mad:that would be allot of engine:rolleyes: sorry grampa just a thought. any ideas? i need suspention parts, rubber parts, plastic parts, motor mounts tranny mounts, shocks, stainless brake and gas lines, rubber brake hoses, glove box liner, is there any brake drum crossover for the jet ?
i heard ford but not sure. i wish i had a contintal kit,twin h?,
vacume windshild washer jar, swamp cooler, window gutters 4dr, headlight visors, teardrop trailer? naaw, and mabie spoke hubcaps i think thats enough
for now.
ps i know a guy who has a 1950 super six light green i think he said it was sitting from 59 he said it ran looks pretty straight needs a quarter pannal
or somthing he said he had the head off of it because of a stuck valve or somthing i think its a 262? but he said hed sell it to the right person but he dosent know how much its worth like i said the car looks pretty straight
but who can say? thiers allot of moss or algie over it green on green lol
but its in his back yard under a car port, at least its dry id love to take it on
but i know better moneys streached thin as it is and i got a 39 studie, an old
honda 360 bike and my 97 honda daily driver. id love to see it on the road agan at least.

Welcome to the forum! I'm just north of you in Kirkland - for now - I'm looking for a new place with a garage. I'm tired of working on my car outside!
I got replacement front floorpans from Ken Amman for my 49 - does anyone know if these would work for a jet?
What kind of money is the owner looking for on the stepdown?
Those floorboard pics bring back some memories!0 -

im not sure what the owner has in mind but ive printed him a price guide off this site and it said arround 5,200 for a RUNNING unrestored car "low retail'
http://classiccar.com/nada_classiccars.php does this sound right? i wouldnt know. the car dosent run though

green mountain 802-655-8800 supposedly makes jet rockers.0
-
thanks nick
i just called and i got a private number so i dialed one and i got this
company called fab tecc, the lady said they did not make reproduction
car parts, they worked with stainless steel but there were some people
in the bulding before them, is green mountian still arround?0 -
here is a note from my father's website, It does reference Fab-tech. There is or at least was some connection.
"1954 Rocker panels They have reproductions of 48-54 2 & 4 dr. and also Jet!! Fab-Tech, 21 Hercules Drive,Colchester,Vt.05446. ( Listed in Hemmings as Green Mountain Parts) You must order through the vendor.Ph.802-655-8800 (I got Barbara) She tells me that they make 54 Rockers for coupes (48 inches long $98.00 ea. plus shipping) for 4 dr.sedans(72 inches long $98.00 each, plus shipping) These are prices from 2002 "
since i did not see their ad in the most recent hemming i have, i dug here on the forum. And found this, perhaps they split off fab-tech?
http://www.classiccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1221
lists them at:
Phone is 802-948-2086
Address is P.O. Box 100, Route 22A, Orwell, VT 05760
btw regarding your engine stand question, "dennis in ny" shows pictures of his 49 convertible on a rotissorie
http://www.classiccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5638 (great pics of his first class resto - but don't attempt with dial-up)
that's probably more like what you remember seeing, engine stands (even with enough capacity) wouldn't have a large enough footprint and center of rotation to do the job.0 -
What you are thinking of is called an Auto Rotisserie. Several companies manufacture them. Here are some links:

Hello, I have a 54 Jet parts car that I bought out of a junk yard a few years ago. It has a complete motor, It is probably stuck, But when I bought it, it was full of junk. When I went to clean it out I found two complete rockers. I don't know if somebody made them or what but they looked good. One has some minor damage on the end, but could be easily fixed. They look like they would fit good. I would be intterested in selling them, because the rockers on my 53 that i am restoring are in pretty good shape. If you are interested you can e-mail me at rockymcgill@wcrtc.net or BSmedleyt@LouBed.com
Thanks, Barry Smedley:)0 -
