Looking through Butler's "History of Hudson" it appears that 1936 was the last year rumble seats were used. From '37 onwards, with the wider bodies, coupes were true 3 passenger models, and were available with a side-facing seat crammed in the rear for a fourth passenger. The deck lids were hinged at the top from then on. Convertible Borughams had a rear seat, with less leg room, and sat 6 passengers. I don't know how the passengers and driver communicated in the '36 coupes, as I can't imagine having a wind-down window as in the ealrier models.

  • thanks, geoff. rumble seat would look off on a 37 coupe. now i have to find a utility box and mount my licence plate on the fender. dermot.:)
