1950 Hudson Commadore (Parts)
I have a complete car that I am thinking of parting out. Actually its not in my possession yet, but I am looking at buying it. First I want your opinion.
Is there much call for parts such as these?
Probably do this on Ebay.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
Forgot to add, its a 4 door and I guess it runs.

6 or 8? Where will it be located? Value is depending upon condition"ie" perimeter frame, quarters, door bottoms, floors "etc". We can't let these treaures fall into the wrong hands and lose them forever. If it's reasonably priced and beyond restoration, it can yield a multitude of parts.
I know this is common sense stuff, , am not wanting step any toes, but when someone tells me of one laying somewhere, I go look. I have a 51 Super six in my yard now that no one wanted. I got it for next to nothing. It has an overdrive trans, the relay, kick down, and in/out cable, and drive shaft. I'm gonna use these components in my 50 Commodre "8" that i'm doing a valve job on,so while I've got it down, fix the way I want it. The body is rough, but undercarriage is good, will yeild many parts. Keep us posted.

If it's a runner - why part it out? Is is just too far gone from rust?0 -

Well I have not actually gone to look at it yet. The owner wants $400 for it. I may or may not pay that.
Parting out simply because I am in it for the money. Now - If its in great shape I might turn it for a dollar to two but I am thinking by parting it out, I would make more.
Money is tight here at home and I found that these old cars yield quite afew bucks when parted out. Its a way for me to supplement the income if you will.
I don't know if it an 8 or a 6. The owner does not take very good pictures.
But he claims to have extra parts. Guess I have to go see for myself for sure.

Just a note of encourgement. My opinion is that any stepdown that has an engine, trans and will roll is well worth $400.00, as an example, the rear windshield is a 50 only, split window. If it has overdrive with all the components intact, that alone will yield a large portion of your investment back. I've seen good engine cores go for $150.00 and up. Cracks sometimes plague the abandoned Huds with engines in them.
I'd run look at it asap, but that's the kinda nut I am. I've spent grocery money for cars or parts, but then I don't have a wife any longer to dictate what I will and won't do, or buy. I do have my 2 children and they don't eat much, and they're a couple of little motorheads.
I sold a 49 Commodore last Sunday, and they both cried and are still mad at me,so ya see I got it made. I want to move on with my 50 Commodore 8,and I was at a stopping point, now I can finish the engine before the snow flies here in Michigan. Go buy the car, take step in faith, your fellow Hudnuts won't let ya starve.

Won't let me starve.... I got your number LOL
I will look at it this weekend. I will take the trailer with and I am 99.95% sure that car will be on the trailer. I will let you all know and see (pics) as to what I bought. Thanks for the encouraging words. Much appreciated!0 -
I'm curious to know if you went and looked at or bought the 50 Commodore. I'm not normally a person that has a need to know(nosy), but would like to know if we're gonna see another Hudson rescued from a gloomy future.

I can call it mine as soon as I pay the balance due and get it. Rescued? My intent is to part it out. Don't hit me.
I won't be reviving this one. Sorry.0 -
Parting out or restore,it'll live on as opposed to being recycled into a half dozen Neons or some other POJ. The Hudson world thanks you, sir.
Thanks for letting me share.
