Molasses

Every once in a while I see a reference to use molasses as a rust remover. What's the deal? Please explain.

    Hey Dave,
    Got lots of information on it. Think I'll try it on a couple of small pieces. All it will cost is a few dollars and some time. Seems as though it may be a little sticky though.

    Another organic rust remover is freeze dried sugar beet pulp. See Rustbeeter.com



    This stuff really works well. It's probably best for smaller parts, and/or set-ups, but I was able to use it to de-rust a 20 gal. gas tank. It worked beautifully. Smelled good, too!
