another newby on board
Hello all,
I'm Joe from SoCal. I've been lurking here for a few years and finally had some time to jump in. We are new to Hudsons (about 3yrs.) My wife has a 50' pacemaker 500 two door, sbc camaro clip ford rear end. I have a 46' p/u with a 327 six pack, muncie 4-speed, 9" Ford. I shortened the wheel base 6" and the bed 12", makes for a real fun daily. We have a 32.5' Essex 2 door sedan that is bone stock but not for long. The plans are for a period correct Gasser that will run mid 10's. Thanks to everyone for the great info and knowledge I have gained so far. Yes I am a member of the HET club.
Here are a few pict's of our cars.

Darn I can't find the file with current pic's of the 50'. I'll look more in the morning, or I'll take some new ones.

Thanks, I got the seat done and then it all came to a screeching hault when my wife said it was time to start some land scaping around the house. The cars have a pretty healthy list but the house list is even bigger.:mad:0 -
Welcome aboard Joe, like the fenders on your p/u! Looks like you've got some cool projects going. Boy I love those 327's!
Is your Pace a Brougham or Club Coupe? I have a '50 Pacemaker Club Coupe, frame issues put me behind, but plans are a Vette LT1 and Fatmans MII (actually already sitting in my garage). Post some pics when you can.

Wow Jay now you've got me thinking because I never looked up the vin to tell but I think it is a club coupe because it is pretty plain. I think the camaro sub is a terrible fit, It was installed before I bought it.
The LT1 will be perfect. Our 350 is about wore out.... my wife drives the hell out of it and allways has a smile on her face when she returns. (except one time when she spit out the drive shaft on the freeway).
I'll dig up some pic's

Hey Joe, nice seeing another So. Cal. Hudson person. I am around the corner from you in Lakewood and have a stock 29 Hudson 4 door standard sedan but I do like what you have done to your cars and am interested in maybe getting a Hudson street rod somtime. Take care, Ron0 -
Welcome onboard! Truck looks very nice, and well done - know that had to take quite a bit of work to get it to the stage it is in right now. Looks like you've taken the wing-windows out of the doors - is that just temporary, or are you planning on eliminating them entirely (i.e., you're in So-CA, so airconditioning in the plans?)?
Looks like the Essex is a project in the beginning stages...
I've got a couple of my own that are at that stage - and a spouse who continually adds to the 'honey dews' list. Guess I'd better be nice, after all - I might need somebody to hold a wrench or push a brake pedal every now and then...:D
Any pictures of that Pacemaker?
Thanks for the kind words, I work the grave yard shift and spent about 8hrs. / day for almost a year just getting to this point. It's amazing how time flys when your on your back. The door glass is'nt in yet, hopefully before winter:o . Actually I would like to convert them to one piece if possible. No plans for a/c on the truck because the 50' next in line then I have a 60' chevy brookwood wagon in line for air after that. I picked up the sedan fenders from Bill A, the pair that came with it were beyond repair.

Yeah Ron I only know of a couple other Hudsons near by...kind of makes it more fun. I love looking at the detail of all stock pre 40's cars I just don't think I have the maturity or patients to pull one off properly. Maybe we'll bump into each other at a meet sometime.

Welcome Joe,
I am Riverside, so maybe we will see each other at a show or cruise sometime!
I too, am fairly new to this forum, but have become addicted. These guys are full of knowledge for us newbies to gleen off of. I like what you have done to your P/U. I am looking forward to seeing your '50.

Joe, if it has the long trunk lid like mine here, its a Club Coupe; and if it has a short trunk lid and a longer sloping rear roofline, its a brougham or 2 door sedan.
Jay
P.S. Mine doesn't look this good anymore!0 -

Bill, You know who I am. We did a bunch of trading the day I met you. Remember the p/u gas tank... I bought a complete grill from you... You dug through boxes of window cranks in your office to find me a clean set... The mini schnauser in my BIG RED F-350 truck... traded the over drive trans to you... your am radio buddy was there.
see you soon, I need some more trim pieces.

OK a club coupe for sure, I like the white roof on your car I bet it helps out on hot days.
Here is a pic of ours when we bought it, the paint has gone quite a bit on ours also due to being a mile from the beach. The worst spots are at the quarter panel seams and along the door mouldings. I'll get current pic's when my wife gets home with the camera.0 -

Nice Pace Joe! Hey what steering column are you using? Looks like a tilt. Will have to decide that as well.
I hate the white top! Looks like those cop cars on Mayberry RFD! Its just missing the cherry top! Anyway, that shell is going, this is the one being used:
Was originally some kind of gold color, yuck! Massive frame rot in mine, so have to trash the shell/frame, but all the pieces will move over to this one from my original coupe. I am considering going with the original "revue red" metallic color which was original to my Coupe, but want to have some ghost flames, so not sure yet if that color will work. Its needs the chem dip first.
The interior is excellent in mine, but alas, wool interiors don't make a lot of sense in the desert! So it will change. Did yours have the fabric patterned dash? Mine is still in great shape, slightly faded up near the glass, but should shine up with some clear coat.
I assume by Ford rear end you are speaking of a 9"? Did you have it narrowed? Or did you use the 57-59 Ford rear end? Just curious, another option I need to figure out. Are you using stock leafs?
Sorry about all the questions, man, glad to find another modifed Coupe out there to discuss work with.
Nice Rod Joe!

Hey Joe, the truck looks good. Working on finishing mine. It is interesting to find out who has or has had Hudsons in your area once you bring it home to get it running. Thought my '46 pick-up would be something different in my area only to find out that there is another one in my town, and the owner went to school with my wife, go figure.0
