Bay to Birdwood rally

If you come to Australia, try to visit Adelaide in Sept.
Each year they have this 70km rally starting from the Bay thru the streets of Adelaide then up the winding roads thru the hills to the National Car Museum in Birdwood. This year it was the 26th rally and was for the pre 1956 vehicles. Next year it will be for the post 1956 vehicles. There were approx 1500 veteran, vintage & classic cars, motor biles & commercials. The older cars & bikes left first at 9am. All vehicles were gone by 11am.
It was stop start, and low gears crawling thru Adelaide, but once the foothills were reached we had 2 lanes and the pace increased.
Not many Hudsons present. I saw only five. There was a 29 Hudson, 2 mid 30s Terraplane roadsters, a 47 Hudson Coupe but the best car out of all the 1500 there had to be a 37 Terraplane sedan. Im sure Jon B would agree with me. The interstate Coupe had some bad luck. The gear change linkage on the bottom of the steering column broke.
The national museum itself has approx 500 vehicles. It has a few Essex on display, and a 1925 Hudson 7 seat Tourer. So if you love looking at lots of cars, its Adelaide in September.

I hear ya! Sounds like a fun time. We were in Sydney and Mudgee this past July, but never made it to Adelaide, but we had a great time in Australia!0 -
