Not getting gas to carbs; Fuel pump?
I've been having a hard time getting my twin-h 51 Hornet to start when it is cold. This morning it simply refused to start after tons of cranking. I looked at the clear fuel filter which is installed just before the first carb and it appeared to be empty. I poured some gas down the carbs and got her started then looked at the fuel filter again and it was now full. I am going to assume that I may have a fuel pump issue?

Or, crud in your tank / fuel line. Is there any crud in any of the filters or screens? Might also be an air leak in the line back by the tank, caused by corrosion. You might try blowing air through the line back into the tank, to see if it will go through. To test the pump, simply disconnect the line (back to the tank) slip a rubber hose off over the pump's inlet fitting, and draw from a small gas can. Does the car run now?0

do you smell gas in the garage after it has sat?
sounds like you have a leak allowing the line to drain. appearently your pump pumps but the line is empty. that is not to say the the source of the leak is not the pump or connections there.
as far as the line not filling after "tons of cranking", tons should be enough to fill the line, do you have a filter ahead of the pump? (is not it is a good idea as is a elctric pump to prime) besides fighting an air leak which of course will cause a delivery issue as well as the draining, the filter or the mesh screen in the pump itself could be clogged causing a restriction. i was actually sucking air at the connection to my filter, i have also had the element of a filter collapse.0 -

1. Wouldn't start with tons of cranking. How are the chokes?
2. Filter empty. Gas leaking or suctioned back to tank. Check for leaks and
make sure gas cap is vented.
3. Did car continue to run after you poured gas down the carbs? If so, and
the clear filter was filled with gas, the fuel pump must be working.
If the car sat for a long time, or if it was extremely hot when last run, the gas would evaporate from the carbs.0 -
I would replace the fuel pump if you have another one. I know you can buy them from Dave Kostancek in Ohio.....0
