Obviously the lister doesn't know much about Hudsons. Claims to not have any bondo in it (BTW - a magnet will not tell you squat about a car!) and then look at the response to the question posted below...bah-hah!
I'd like to see a "boxed frame" on a unibody car! Hmmm...Do they keep "boxed frame stepdowns" in the same isle as the "muffler bearings"?

Q: NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RUST, Any prior or unrepaired rust in body panels or floorboards. Thanks Charles

A: The previous owner had the frame boxed in by a professional welder, stronger than new, so there must have been something. It's never been a problem. I have found no rust in the floorboards.

If the frame, such as it is, was so rusted that it had to be boxed, what did they weld to? Although a good frame repair can be as good or better than new, whoever buys this car better drive it slow and easy.0

Wasn't that Egbret's 48 Hudson Coupe Built on a custom Morrison boxed frame? Guarantee its a major undertaking, but could be done. Agree that anybody interested in this one better have a close up look!
Wish I had the back seat.
Whats the thing about the magnets anyway, I've seen it mentioned before, but don't know anything about it.0 -

Both Eggberts and the Nice custom in Australia had put a frame underneath the unibody tub. Chanelled, tubbed and lowered...Thats a TON of work!
A "Boxed Frame" is the term for adding structural support to C-style frame rails like the old duece's.
Magnets:
I've seen morons scratch paint trying to do this 'wives tale'...Its a common somewhat plausible myth but basically you are supposed to be able to take a magnet, put a piece of thin cloth or paper between the magnet and the painted surface on the car and by moving along the body lines if the magnet falls off - presto there must be bondo - in theory!
Yes, if there is enough bondo the magnet will fail but there are so many other factors such as strength of the magnet and mil thickness of sub-surfacers and the paint itself that could effect this "test"
I can visually look at a car and tell if its been worked on or painted and I don't need no "stinking magnet!"
I can also guarantee someone comes over to my home and look at a car I have for sale and pull a magnet out of your pocket I will grab it from them and lob it straight at their forehead...just hard enough to draw blood!:p
Kidding! But I wouldn't let anyone drag a magnet across my nice paint job! Besides that unless someone does ALL lead work I can guarantee if ANY car has been painted it has BONDO in it!0 -
Looks to me like a '54 motor. You can't get that red paint anymore. Nice interior too.

The owner might mean subframe connectors, which Mopar drag racers use to connect the front and rear subframes.
Or, he may have boxed the rear spring perches, like on Mopar convertibles and Hemi cars.
Lastly, he may have had new frame rails fabricated that fit OVER the originals and had them welded in. Seen that before, though not on a Hudson.0 -
I have seen this car in person, but was not looking at it with a buyers eye. It is a very nice looking car, clean interior and and a very clean engine compartment with a nice Twin H installation. I think the add descibes it quite well.
The owner is extremely knowledgable about Hudsons, and owns quite a few nice (and rare) examples. He is a great guy and has been very helpful with my Hudson.
I would be willing to take a closer look for anyone who's interested.
