I just took ownrship of a 1950 500 Pacemaker Deluxe. 73K miles. A good driver that does need some attention.

I need a fuel bowl for the carb. It is a Carter carb. I need the little glass bowl and metal frame that goes on the carb and has the fuel line come into it.

Recommendations please.

The Glass bowl is an aftermarket add on. YOu can replace it with any good fuel filter from an auto parts store

I thought the filter was the big thing haning off the right fneder wall.

If it is after market, is it required? It this an owner preference item?

You really don'r need it. You should have another in line gas filter along your gas line between the gas tank and the fuel pump. The glass bowl (sedimant bowl) would also have a small filter - either stone or paper - in it.

We have a 1950 Super 6 Club Coupe and when Al Saffrhan built my engine last year (as well as the whole drive train) he suggested just eliminating it and did so.

It (sediment bowl) looks nice, but not much function to it at that point.

We drove our newly restored car (had @ 1,000 miles on it when we left) almost 5,500 miles from July 21st - September 27th and had a BALL!!!! We went from Phoenix, to ...NM, Tex,Ok, to as far east as St Louis,MO, KA, IA, NE- with a week at the Nat'ls, up to WY, CO, UT NV and back to AZ.

What a grate time and only a broken gas pedal and a broken windshield (new one before we left - oh, well). Lots of looks and great conversations with a lot of good folks along the way.

Good luck on your car and drive it a lot - enjoy it.
