Bill, All stepdown windshields that have a left side and a right side will interchange. The 54 model was the only year which was a single piece windshield.There are several glass suppliers which can supply you with reproduced windshields in the 3-4 hundred dollar range Iowa Glass {PPG} , Bob's classic Glass out of Blachly Oregon as well as some others. The main thing to watch is the repro glass thickness. K Gap makes reproduction windshield seals but watch your glass thickness. The reproduction seals are calibered to the old windshield thickness. Some reproduction glass makers have thinner glass that won't work too well with the new seals. As far as I know Iowa glass hasen't had that problem. Afew years ago there was a guy supplying glass from Peru{?} that was too thin so keep an eye out for that. The other thing to watch is for clear vs. tinted. The stepdown origionally had only one version{clear} until the 53 model year when you could order tinted Solex windows or clear-your option. If it dosen't matter to you just get what you want lots of guys have retrofitted tinted glass into older stepdowns no problem. Good luck.0

I just had a set of windshields from Bob's in Oregon installed in my 50 Pacemaker using Dany's windshield rubber from K-Gap. Fit was real good
between the glass & gasket.
I went with the clear and I swear that on the first drive it looked like there
was no glass there! Man were these CLEAR compaired to the orginal ones.
It is quite the time consuming job to get these old ones out, clean the
area for the new gaskets & install the new ones. About 4 hours total time
to do two but my car was very dirty around the gasket area.
It did take several weeks to get the windshields because they did have
a big back log. Just wanted you to be prepared for the delay.

Did you do the replacement of the windshields or did you have someone do it for you? I was wondering how you pull the windshields and install the new ones. Is it like a newer car where the glass is pulled out towards the front of the car, new seals installed, and then back in place - or do you have to remove the trim from the inside and pull them out into the interior of the car?
Not sure if I want to tackle this myself - would a normal auto glass place do this replacement if you had the parts?

The body manual from the club store has detailed instructions.
Basically, remove the inside trim, and the metal clips at the bottom. Put a pillow on the dash and loosen the glass with a putty knife on the outside, and push the glass in.
Clean everything up, use sealer around the rubber, and push in place from the inside. Have some wooden wedges made to support the glass, and hold in place until the clips are in. 'Seal-all' in a tube from your hardware store is good stuff. Goes on white and dries transluscent. Run a small bead of it around the outside where the trim and glass meet after you're done, and smooth it with a wet finger.
Do a 'dry run' before applying sealer to make sure everything fits.0
