Oil leak

In reading the thread about synthetic oil as opposed to regular oil, I noticed that several guys mentioned using Lucas stop leak to repair oil leaks around the pan and/or rear main seal. I have such a leak in my Kaiser that is driving me nuts. Two questions: Should I use the Lucas stop leak? Should I start using a thicker oil that was common in the day when these cars were built?

  • First thing I'd do is find out where the leak is, then try to fix the problem. Stopgap measures usually crate more problems.
