Anyone know what this is?

I found this truck in a 1934 movie. It looks like a Hudson with a Lincoln bumper. In the film it is supposed to be a race track tow truck. Anyone have any ideas what this is? - Thanks

  • Looks like about a 22 Hudson w/ aftermarket 'Bi-Flex' bumpers. They were sold aftermarket for installation on different makes of cars.

Looks to be a 2nd series 1924 or a 1925 Hudson Coach modified to rural specifications (pick-up truck). I have a 1927 Chrysler similar to this as a lawn ornament. What movie was this?

The movie was a 12-chapter Mascot Serial called "Burn 'Em Up Barnes."

Those old square 1920's and early 30's cars, not only Hudsons, lent themselves to that "rural" conversion. Really look sharp - but then I've always been one that liked "square" cars. The "poured plastic" look of today doesn't really make an impression on me.

Is that what attracts you to the Wombat Alex, that rural conversion.

I myself think he is more of the poured plastic look, after all he has had plastic surgery.
