I think that this could be mildly interesting. Does anyone have this book, and,if so, is there anything Hudson in it?

Available on amazon.com for #23.00. Under $10 at alibris.com - does mention "smaller companies like Packard, Studebaker and Auburn so might have something on Hudson. But, what the hey, if you can get it for $6 or $7 not a bad deal. If it doesn't have anything on Hudson, turn around and flog it on ebay for $10, at least get your money back. LOL

Thanks for the input Alex. You're right, it's so inexpensive I probably shouldn't have bothered anyone about it.
  • I happen to love that book. If you are into old cars and love to see factory photos, two thumbs up. But go buy it locally.

Only inexpensive if you know where to look, James!!! I don't mind people putting book titles on the forum - gives me something to go look for.

As I said I check amazon.com and alibris.com - find a lot of bargains on those sites. Another is, I think, abe.com or abebooks.com. Haven't used it for so long I've forgotten. alibris.com is a country wide collection of book sellers - I've used the service many times and never had a problem with any seller.

Langworths Hudson: The Postwar Years can be found on alibris.com, price around $15, for example.

Thank you very much for that info, Alex. Up here in Minnesota there isn't an awful lot that a person can do in the winter except read books.

Winters in the past have been about the same here in Maine - tho the last 10 years it seems like we get 2 or 3 really mild winters, with a typical New England winter year in between to break up the monotony.

As I said, I've had no problems using alibris.com - found books all over the country that I wanted to read. And usually under $10, which is nice when you are retired and don't have a lot of money for books.

I've about picked the used book stores in my area clean - some have really gone up on the prices, others have cut back, so there isn't much choice any more.

    Have a good one.:D

Another general info, but interesting, book is "American Automobile Manufacturers - The First 40 Years" by John B. Ray. This books starts out around the early 1900's and goes from there.

There are several mentions of Hudson here, with some interesting, albeit short, paragraphs. amazon.com has 4,new and used, at the moment for around $12. alibris.com has 3 listed, but they are expensive - $29.95, $31.95 and $51.95.

That said it seems the rule that in any book devoted to all marques Hudson recieves a sort of "Oh, yes, there was Hudson................." nod. This book presents some interesting information on the marque in regards to a patent fight on the 1916 crankshaft and there are some insights on the formation of Essex. Brief mentions, yes, but interesting none-the-less.
