Front End Rebuild
OK.....Clutch unstuck, will work on timing later...
When I had the Pacemaker up in jacks to drain the clutch, I looked real good at the front end. I need all the rubber and who knows (until I take it apart) what else.
Kanter catalog says INQUIRE.
I need a good source and How-To manual. I am not afraid to get dirty and buy tools. I want to do as much of the work at home as possible.
I figure that I will take the fenders and grill off (and have them cleaned) and pull the engine for a rebuild and paint job.
Recommendations please.
Thanks....y'all have been a great help already.

Manuals ordered, building permit submited for shed to hold parts, wall started to keep cat off car (likes to watch me look at the engine).
Wife OK with project, concerned about cost but not complaining. I have to buy her a 69 Chevelle Malibu with small block (her first car when she learned to drive). Daughter is working to get a road-ready 63 Mercury Comet with 93K original miles. Not sure if it is a 6 or 8 cyl. I have not got that close to it yet. And she has cash to pay for it. Yippy!!
Lot of winter reading and planning to do. I need a bigger garage.

You have to make everyone happy - you can't have all the toys!
This was my first car - 1968 Malibu. Bought it in 1977 for $1250.00 (I wish I had bought 100 at that price then) and the lower picture is what it looked like 3 years later and up until I sold it some 15 years ago - yep I'm old!

Forgot to mention - Look for a "Motors Manual" that covers your vehicle year... It will cover multiple makes & multiple years, but may help with the mechanical aspects of your vehicle.
Here's one listed on Ebay -

Thank you. I will have a professional rebuild the engine. I have not the tools or knowledge. The front-end however, is one thing I know I can do as it is a remove and replace type of job.
BTW, all, frame is laser straight, engine mouting brakets are OK (off by 1mm from square on driver side - could be torque bending). I had fun with a laser mirrors and the tape measure last night.0 -

I know. My son does not like the old car and hates the green paint. He is a street racer.
Malibu's aint cheap right now. I will have to use all the XMAS bonus and some stock options to get one. The Hudson though is going to be a labor of love for the next year or so.
Thanks..............Ed0 -
