Fuel Pump Gasket Stack

How do I tell if the owner added the extra gaskets or it came from the factory or dealership that way?

I took possession with the pump in a bucket on the floor board. But the stack was still there with the mounting blots.

there should be a stack of gaskets stapled together. you need to reuse these.

Thank you. So a stapled sack is a factory/dealership signature? Since there are five in my stack, I am going to have a machine shop mill a spacer from high quality stock.

Sounds like something to make multiples of to resell or have available - although it would have more than a somewhat limited market base... Don't forget that it will need to be narrower - by a couple of gaskets (one for each side of the spacer)... My apologies, I know that is obvious (but...).

Thank you. Yes, I remembered to reduce the thickness of the stack by two gaskets. It was 5 deep, so 3 will be the machined part. I appreciate the reminder. If it was not said, someone would have missed it.:)

Now back to the CAD/CAM software.
  • I'm running the AMC pump on a 52 hornet and a double gasket stack. When I checked the travel, It appeared to bottom out right before hitting the top of the lobe. I didn't want to stress the arm so I added a second stack which seems to work great. Hudsonkid is running same pump with a single stack on his '50 and doesn't have a problem. Maybe the pump has more travel then the cam lobe can take advantage of.

How do I tell which pump is on my 50 with a 232?
  • The AMC pump has the fuel outlet straight out the bottom. You need a 180 degree bend to bring up toward the carb. I would use this one before the pinto pump. You can buy it cheap at any parts store (under $15)

OK. I have a rebuilt original Dual action (fuel & wipers) that I just put back on. I sent the original core to the rebuilder. I got back a different body. I can tell because the expansion bulb port was not tapped and the hole it goes to is bigger than the buld I kept.
