Do you think the Hornet has a Hydramatic ?
  • Yup, looks like it has a Hydramatic. IMHO, it also looks like attention to detail was a little lacking. And what's up with the variety of fuel filters and Teflon tape on gas fittings? That aside, I want his vacuum tank.

Says it's a stick, and doesn't mention overdrive. The "ownership statement" can't be correct. Maybe a past president.
  • I take the shift quadrant on steering column and no clutch pedal to say Hydramatic.
  • Got two cars here. The 54 has a hydramatic in it. The 51 is a stick and mentions be owned by club president.

The 54 has had the engine touched up with a spray can. And I doubt its a 7x engine. Stock 54 308 with Twin H yes but 7X don't think so.
  • cant find a search portion of the site

Right you are about the 51. I wonder what will happen if BJ sells the 54 as having the 7X and it turns out to be a stock 308?

The fuel filter with three hoses is to help with vapor lock. One hose from tank. One to carb. The hose in the middle is a drain back hose for hot gas. That hose goes all the way back to the gas tank neck. You tap a gas fitting high on neck in trunk area. I had vapor lock problems with my '49 and this seemed to have helped. This filter is a mid '80s Mo Par.

As Far as vapor lock , I find that putting an electric fuel pump in the line back by the tank works great. THat way you run on the mechanical pump and when you experience vapor lock flip the switch under the dash and away you go. Also if one pump fails you have the back up/.......
