My paint came in last night. I am doing a '51 Hornet sedan. I am doing a two tone- French gray on the bottom and Admiral blue on the roof. The french gray sure is not what I thought it was! I have the colors sitting side by side on my desk at work, hoping that it will grow on me!

Do you think it could be a bad paint mix or bad color match?

Where did you get the paint codes and what type of paint is it?

It is the worst paint mix I have ever seen! I ordered it from the link on Ken's website. I will be calling them as soon as they open today!

Just an update for those who are interested- The company refunded my money after they realized what happened. I did not reorder the paint from them because it takes three weeks to get the paint from the west coast. I would use thtem again if time permitted. I didn't even have to send the old paint back to them. That saved me a LOT of trouble! I WOULD recommend them to anyone in spite of what happened.

    Who was the company?
  • So what happened to the paint mix that they realized it was bad?
  • It's nice to hear about GOOD customer service like that. A screw-up is a screw-up, but with me, it's all about how a company resolves it that makes it a stand up company. Sounds like you found a good one.

  • It has been my experience that MOST companies, will try to remedy any problem quickly and to the satifaction of all involved. It is not in the interest of any reputable company to have negative information floating around out there in the public domain. There are however some that will deny there is a problem, even when confronted with proof.( fortunately they are in the minority)

The company was Tri City paints in California. Apparently there were two different mixes for this particular color. The one that was mixed for me had WAY too much green in it. I call it "French Green". I am sure that you could probably cut in another color into the paint to correct it but I don't want to take the chance that there may still be a hint of green in it. Since I am doing a two tone with Admiral blue on the roof, ANY hint of green would not be acceptable.
