Negatory on that, and I will tell you what, I'm itchin'.
  • Havn't got mine in Ontario, Canada. When the previous editor from years and years ago would mail them I received my WTN sometimes faster than many people in the U.S. Last year I received my sept-oct WTN after oct 15 and discovered a hudson in Buffalo area which I would liked to attend, but obviously I learned after the date passed. I e-mailed the president, but nothing has changed. I am lucky to get mine in four weeks. :(

WTN delivery issues will never go away, and they are getting worse. As I have posted many times, we have stuck to a strict schedule...the magazine is mailed from Ypsilanti, Michigan on the 15th & 16th of the cover month. The Sept/Oct 2006 issue was mailed September 15. Most first class subscribers in the USA receive theirs by the 20th. Many bulk subscribers receive theirs as late as the end of the first week of the second month. I have heard from some California members who just got theirs 5 days ago.

The magazines are sorted by zip code/international address by a professional mailing house before being taken to the Post Office. Once the Post Office has them, its anybody's guess what happens next...nobody can control or predict their service. Other international destinations like New Zealand don't seem to be having problems with delivery. What the Canadian Post Office does once its in their hands is open to guess work too.

You can "complain to the President" (of the Club or of the USA) or to ME if you like, but beyond ensuring that they are published and delivered to the Post Office on time, there's not much I can do.

Any member who does not receive a magazine at all is always sent another.

All I can do is urge patience and forebearance. :(
  • Sam,

what a lot of us are trying to figure out is why its taking 4-6 weeks to get the WTN from HET when some of us are members of other clubs and are getting those magazines within a week of mailing. I am a member of a classic truck club the magazine is mailed from Florida. I get it one week after mailing. Always have for the last 5 years. I had normal mail on the WTN then I switched to first class. Made absolutley no difference. I talked to Canada post they say its not hitting Canada until a week before they deliver it so what is it doing for the 4 weeks prior to that in the US.

This has pissed me off enough to contact USPS they are going to try and find out whats going on. I have also contacted Canada Post. I am waiting for my issue to arrive so I can take the mailing label and code off it to see whats what.

When you sent me the replacement issue a while back you sent it out I received it 5 days later. I was going to suggest that you mail me all of my issues LOL. I will see what the combined post offices say and report back.
  • I don't think the Canadian post office is the problem, we can send mail across the country in 4-5 days. I think the problem is with the "bulk mailing"people. You are probably better off just mailing them in smaller batches from the local post office. 4 weeks to us and still no WTN is ridiculous. Third world countries have better mailing than this!

I commisserate with all of you that haven't received your WTN yet. I was getting mine later and later every issue, as well. Then I spent the extra few bucks for first class delivery when I renewed my membership, and even though one issue has come out since then, I received it in a few days, rather than a month and a half. Of course the first thing I did was read it from cover to cover, as always.

The good news is that the White Triangle News is such a great magazine, and represents so many enjoyable things to so many people. We should be so lucky.
  • Please give the HET staff the honor of finding out what could have happened to any of the WTN's that have not made it to you, the membership of the best auto club around. Maybe that is what is holding the WTN's up is the postpersons at every level reading the WTN's nefore sending it on down the pipeline!
I doubt that it is a club staff problem.
Remember they are basically volunteers who devote inordinate amounts of time to their club duties.

This is not the same times as it once was. So many rules and so little time for the Bureaucrats of any country to fulfill their sworn promise to serve the people.

Has anyone realized that we have No WW II Vets working in or running the USPS now? I know that should not make any difference but I believe that it does. There has been a gradual shift to poorer and sorrier mail service as the younger ones have come into being the ones doing the USPS duties. Just like in the other government offices and the VA. The Me First generation does not seem to have much care for the people, only their time off.

However, I do know a fairly good number who do not fit this condemnation. Too bad they are blocked by the "others" from promotions thus we keep on getting worse service at all levels above the lowest worker.

I also personally know some who have convinced me that they not only don't care but won't hire a Vet at all if they can find any way to avoid it!

    USA Bureaucracy at its finest.
Our Congress exhibits the same failure to serve the people first.

Did you know the VA does not honor the service of a reservist unless he was seriously injured or killed in a combat zone?

Makes you wonder how our government can get anything done that is Moral let alone Legal doesn't it?
  • Bruce,

we are not talking about isolated incidents here we are talking about every issue. We wait 4-6 weeks for every issue of the WTN. Now if I did not recieve magazines from other clubs in the US that arrive within one week of sending I would keep my mouth shut and not say a thing. But when I can get a magazine from another club sent first class and get it in a week then I think something is wrong here.

If it was once in a while I would also be ok but its EVERY issue. When I first joined I had the normal delivery and it was taking 4-6 weeks so I thought ok I will spend the extra money and get first class and after doing so it takes 4-6 weeks to receive my WTN. No change at all which is not right.

I have contacted both the USPS and Canada Post and when my WTN arrives I will take the label off and pass the info to them for tracking.

Sam sent me a replacement WTN I received that 5 days after he sent it. I was only half joking when I said Sam should send out all of my WTN's.

I also do not want this to turn into a rant against the USPS and Canada Post systems because I get a heck of a lot of stuff from the US and I do not seem to be having many problems with either postal system. When its sent First Class it takes about a week. When its sent surface it takes 4-6 weeks. I am confident the postal agency's can help me figure out what is happening. When I find out I will report back here.
  • still not here!!!
  • I have been talking to Sam and he and the HET staff are tracking down the problem.

Now that you mention it, the Australian airmail delivered WTNs - at least among the HETers around Brisbane - were very slow this time.

Usually no more than a week to get here from posting date but this time it was just on 4 weeks.

But well worth waiting for as always, not to mention another top article by Geoff Clark
  • Is the November/December issue out yet?

I, for one, don't really care when it gets here (tho the sooner the better would be nice) - the anticipation makes the reading twice as good!!!

I know the staff at the WTN is doing the best they can - no one can attach blame to them.

Hang in there Sam, somebody WILL figure this out sooner or later.

  • I think Sam has now figured out the problem and this months issue will test the new procedure. So yes its now sooner than later.......
