49 trunk lid
Anybody else having troubles with their deck lid not fitting very well when they redid theirs. What iam talking about theres a gap on the right side when the trunk is close more so than on the left side where the gasket goes on top of the fender well. Saw a photo of another 49 on ebay few weeks ago unrestored and it had a gap on the passenger side also just wonder if there was a manufacture problem this year or something. Tried to do all the addjusting to the lid on the trunk brackets but still have a gap.

heres the photo of the other car on ebay this isnt mine see the gap on the right thats what iam haveing seems like the lid isnt wide enough.
thanks for the info

There are a lot of factors that can effect this.
If the car has been hit - ever
If the cars unibody tub is weak from rust and fatigue
Poor repairs to the unibody section
A lot of times you just need to apply some gentle "persuasion" and tweak the hinges by just forcing the lid over.
What happens right at the point you shut the lid - what is the alignment? and the point when you latch the lid - what is the alignment?
Could be just the latching mechanism needs adjustment if it pulls over when latching....0 -
I agree with rambo... it also looks like the one in the picture has no rubbers in it. when I got mine it had no rubber seal in it. I added the seal and adjusted the deck lid by opening it and shoveing in the direction of the gap and my gaps are fine now.0

I had an old guy once tell me he adjusted doors by rolling up a towel and inserting it into the door and pushing on the door. Don't know if it really works though.0
