I have a number on the head of the car that is NOT on the parts list.

30301-1 near cyl 6

Power Dome on drivers side, front to rear

500 on front left corner when looked at from the grill

What does this mean?

  • In order of your post

    1. That is the casting number
    2. Powerdome was the designation for the shape of the combustion chamber
    3. 500 is the series designation for your car.

Thank you. I was thinking it was the part number just like the tag on the generator. One family member seems to recall the head being replaced after about one year of driving.

I figured the 500, even though mine is 50A.

So one more question....Is the PowerDome akin to Hemi?
  • Powerdome is not akin to a Hemi. Hudson combustion chambers are not hemisperical.
  • Powerdome is akin to a marketing ploy. It sounds good in type. That is about the only relationship is has to the actual geometry of the combustion chamber. Since its a flathead the chamber is pretty shallow. But Powerdome sounds much better than shallow flathead.

NOW I will have to tell you that that is about the best answer I have ever seen.
