Great Movie!
Where's all that money you guys were gonna make on your cars?
I liked the Hudson racing history stuff they brought out...but I was watching the extras about the inspiration for Cars...near the end there is an old fart (I think he's licquered up at bit) standing next to someone they identify as Don Flock...anyway you here this guys voice over talking about how Hudson was the first car with "Tri-Power"...of course I knew he meant "Twin-H" but Hudson was hardly the first car to use multiple carbs...drunken old fool mis-reprenenting Hudsons!0 -
He was probably talking about the old terraplanes with triple carbs that raced. Hudson didn't produce the three carb manifold it was aftermarket.0

I've turned down a seven thousand profit on my 51 Hornet Coupe. Turned down good money on a coupe Hornet project coupes aswell. I've decided to keep 'em. Ask the same question after the Barrett Jackson auction in Jan!
Target has the DVD on sale till Saturday for only $15.99! I bought two...!0 -
Wal-mart price is $13.84.0

Friends of ours got us a copy at Costco yesterday and my son and I watched it last night while Mama was at a piano concert (though it was his first movie at a theater months ago). He liked it, though some of the more dialoged sections were a bit boring for him (he's only 3!), he did liked the racing scenes, Mater, Ramone (its the hydraulics man!) and the cow tipping! Doc wasn't very interesting for him (except the racing) 'cause he mostly just talks. He does know that all his Hudson toys are '51 Hudsons! We also watched the bonus features and the deleted scenes, which mostly were good to leave out, except we liked the one were Ramone met Flo....should have put that one into the movie I think.
Happy B-Day 54hudson! Can't even remember what I was doing at 22.........must have blacked out somewhere! (damn those pharmiceuticals!) LOL

I went to see it at the movies twice and bought it last night. I'm waiting for my relatives to stop by that would never go to the movies to see a cartoon and surprise them. Then again, I may just look at it for my own sense of gratification.0

My kids bought me the DVD today. My wife and I just watched it for the first time tonight. I watched the Hudsons scenes over a few times and I got a little emotional. (I know I am not the only one to say that)
The reason I waited to see the movie is because I really hate to spend $20.00 to sit in a movie theatre and have to listen to other people talk I prefer to rent the DVD or wait for the movie to be on HBO or Cinamax and watch the movie in the privacy of my home.
My wife and kids think I'm just cheap! Of course unless it comes to spending money on my Hudsons.0 -
Mine came in the mail Wednesday, I'd ordered Mid Oct. from local video. So for the duration of the movie I was a kid again.Movie is rich with positive content. I've been a Paul Newman fan since the "Hustler" days. Which would indicate that I'm a leeety bit ober da hill, I have a 7yr. old boy and an 11 yr. old girl and am having the time of my life with em.

It still is amazing what a strong role Hudson had in this movie. The newpaper headlines flashing in the garage scene with the three piston cups, Doc racing in the desert, the close ups of the Hornet and Hudson logos, the accolades that Doc gets from the race announcers when spotted at Lightning's last race etc. Truly a great tribute and what legends are made of.0

I'm in the process of making an offer on a house - couldn't sleep last night so I got up and watched Cars again!
I think it was the director and/or producer that really has a love affair with Hudson and I'm sure he had to put his foot down in many management meetings about keeping the car a Hudson and why.
Now the car that I think benefitted most from the Cars movie - would be if you owned an original Fabulous Hudson Hornet race car (does an original exist - or are they all re-creations now?)
A faithful, quality re-creation of a Fabulous Hudson Hornet would probably do pretty well at BJ's right now...but if you had the real "mcCoy"...whoohoo..."I'm goin' ta Disneyland!"0 -
Stopped by Wal Mart tonight and bought the Video. I for whatever reason didn't get to the Movie.
I am having my annual Chili dinner for my local chapter (WNY/Ontario) this saturday. I will play it then for all to enjoy.

Went to Wally World this morning - and brought home a copy of Cars. Now all I got to do is resist watching it until the end of Dec when I can watch it with my 48 year old daughter. hehehehe

I saw it 3 times, see something different every time. Ordered one from Amazon. $14.99. It's in the mail. Plan on watching it w/youngest daughter, husband and grandkid (6) next weekend. She's the only one of my 4 who didn't grow up in the back seat of a Hudson.
This summer we put 6 kids/grandkids in the 49 for a tour. The girl just behind my head spent a lot of time squabbling back there with her 2 brothers in 'Old Henry' back in the 50s and 60s

I think the guy in the video that's being "interviewed" is one of the Flock sons....
which seemed od, that he would refer to twin h as tri power....
I'll have to watch it again to see for sure.0 -

I believe it was Don Flock and that it was some drunken crony standing next to him in a Cars t-shirt that was babbling on about tri-power...I could swear you could see some disgust in Don Flocks face...you know we all have those friends0 -
Got a copy of CARS today. Excellent! It was packaged with another DVD of more extras at Walmart. the extras were mostly about the music in the movie. I liked the special features "inspirtation for CARS" but when I heard that guy talk about the Hornets equiped with "tri-power" I cringed like someone put their nails on a chalk board. LOL0
