51-53 Hornets

I have never seen anything between door handles, lock cylinders, trunk emblems, or other badges.
But, it seems hudson used gaskets (rubber) between tailights, trunk handle units, parking lights (some) but for some reason, the others are absent of these gaskets.
Don't take my word, just from what I have observed.0 -
That's what I've seen too. I asked because I removed the metal escutcheon for my trunk lock (with integral "HUDSON" reflector) so that I could replace the lock cover and thought I should have some sort of gasket between it and the paint. Maybe it's time to find one or whip out the wand and conjure one up.0

My 52 Hornet has rubber gaskets between door and door handle. not sure about the door locks - i'm not near the car right now. all the other items you mention are not on my car. with the amount of stuff removed by the previous owner, i can't imagine him adding the gaskets if they weren't already there.

Thanks Hal. Now I have to add the door handle gaskets to my list.0

Dave - I came home and checked the door handles and locks. I have a thin navy blue ring around the handles from the former paint color underneath and a bad masking job. no rubber gaskets as i previously stated.0

Hal,
OK, then I won't put them on the list. I sent Dany at K-Gap an email to ask him what, if any, gaskets he may have for these applications. Hopefully someone with a master parts book or bone stock original car can chime in and give us some answers.0 -

nick s wrote:dave, there is a sponge rubber seal around the trunk lock cylinder but not a mounting pad for the 52-54 type trunk lifts; also no gasket for the other mentioned trim pieces. when working on your front fenders, be sure to gasket between your headlight buckets and the fender.
It's a little odd that Hudson seemed to "pick and choose" which trim elements got seals,
These are the trim pieces or assemblies I know of from my 49 tear down(from memory...yikes)
Hood Emblem Light - foam
Headlight buckets - cork
Front Turn signal - cork
Antenna Mount - rubber
Front Fender spears and Side Emblem - cork on the inside
Tail lights - rubber
Trunk Emblem - cork
Trunk Handle - rubber0 -
Thanks Nick S and Dan. You'd think that Hudson would have used gaskets, seals and pads where all bolts, lock cylinders and the like penetrate the body. I'll make sure to use a seal at the trunk lock. I have the antenna pad, but will probably replace it. The seals are present at the tail lights. I recently changed the headlights but didn't check those gaskets.0
