I wrote the WTN article. It appeared in the July/August 1997 issue. The house -- The Raven's Grin Inn -- is in Mt. Carroll, Illinois and belongs (or at least did belong in 1997) to Jim and Christina Warfield. They bought a local home with a 'haunted' reputation and converted it to a 'haunted house' that could be toured by the public. At the time I wrote the article, one could tour the Raven's Grin Inn for $7. Note the cupola on top (built by Mr. Warfield). On top of it is a 'crashed spaceship': a '49 Super Six with a "nose" and "tail" welded on in order to resemble something out of Buck Rogers. Looks like someone's thrown a tarp over it; maybe it leaked during rainstorms!
