This looks interesting...is someone going to save this? Are the sellers statements of it's rarity correct?

That would be an awesome project. I've always had a thing for trucks and more recently the panel deliveries.
Hopefully someone with the appropriate funds will take on this one.

I had a chance to buy a '36 Terraplane panel about 18 years ago and a passed, did not have the money and the condition was pretty bad. It was in Texas at the time, anyone know if one of these is still around. This one was white.0

I know Eldon has a 36 Terraplane Panel, in poor condition, but i think it is black. I saw it a few years ago.0

There was a trailered Panel Delivery at the RENO NATIONAL...as I recall it looked as tho it had been used for target for many many years..
Maybe someone has an update or more info on that truck0 -
That '38 at Reno is supposedly the only one known to currently exist It is undergoing a complete resto out in California somewhere. It was a running/driving truck, too, IIRC.0

Actually a picture of Eldon's is in the November issue of Hemmings Collector Car, and it is black.0

There are two '36's known to exist among H-E-T members. One is Eldon Hostetler's (slated for restoration) and the other is Burl Gingerich's (currently undergoing long-term restoration). Burl had his to the last Dearborn National on a trailer, I seem to recall.0

Don't forget the '37 Terraplane Sedan/Panel Delivery owned by Hemmings:
As best I remember, there was a yellow and black '39 Panel Delivery at the Denver National in 1986. I'll have to dig the photo albums out and double check.

the panel delivery at Reno was a '39 not a '38.
It came out of Portland with mucho bullet holes, otherwise sound.0 -
For what it's worth, Alan Walrath of NY also has a 39 panel truck, the kind with the headlights in the fenders0

What's the story as to why there are so few Hudson trucks left of any year? Low production numbers? High useage to the point of crushing? No Interest?0 -
Several years back I made a trek to the Hemming Motor News offices. I arrived late after the normal tours were completed. Chagrined I was about to walk away when the young lady who guards the premises from attacks from old car nuts like me said; since you came all that way... I was on my way home to Texas, let me show you the Terraplane Panel. Wow o golly G... made an ole fella's heart leap like a kid on Christmas morn!. Not only did I get to see the panel, but get to ride in it!. The young lady took us out of the underground garage where the panel resided with other Hemming vehicles, including other panel trucks down the street for a short drive and back to the garage. What a day! Another Hudsoning memory that will last a lifetime.
For those who do not already know that panel truck was restored by Bill Albright.
The 39 Panel truck in New York is was originally black and yellow. I first saw the truck in OK City at a Big Country regional meet. At the time the truck was being driven cross country to California. The truck still had visible markings that associated previous service life with a funeral home.
The owner of the Texas panel confirmed to me it's past three owners have been Texans and the truck has been in the state for many years.

Panel trucks and other Hudson commercial vehicles had fairly low production numbers. You have to consider the use of Commercial vehicles when you talk about survivors too. They're used in a fleet or with a business until they don't have a service life anymore and then they get scrapped. I think '37 Was Hudsons' best commercial vehicle year in terms of the variety of Commercial vehicles the factory offered. ....or was it 1929....well 29 was the biggest production year for the factory pre-war.0

I'm sure you miss it. But may I say that the Hemmings restoration is gorgeous. I was up at the museum in Bennington VT. in Oct. and actually sat in it. Boy what a treat.....0 -
Aaron, You are on the money when you said they were used up and then scrapped. The reason for the Hemmings Terraplane van being around is due to the effort of club member Dave Bullock. Dave actually obtained the truck from a mortuary in Pennsylvania in the sixties. THATS why it survived {no pun intended}. It had been parked in a building and pretty much forgotten about. Subsequently it passed into several hands before it arrived in Bennington Vermont.0
