I need a 1953 right front fender Hornet emblem, can anyone help? Mine was kicked back by the chrome shop as having too many pits.

Thanks,

  • Your lucky. The shop could have charged you for drilling and filling every pit. If someone on the forum doesn't have one, they do show up on ebay from time to time.

Glen Johnson in Brigham City, Utah has been listing a bunch of rechromed stepdown parts on eBay- don't recall whether there have been any fender emblems, but you could give him a call.

    Must chime in....

    Caveat Emptor

someone I would recommend though, is Frank Dhluhy, out of New York. I bought a lot of chrome from him, either NOS or rechromed, and all of it was great, no problems, great prices, and a great guy to boot.

Be careful buying parts from eBay, sometimes stuff happens, I don't know, like finding out that the part you bought didn't actually exist, had problems at the chrome platers, or didn't fit, if you did eventually get it, then you either own a nice paperweight, or can pay to ship it back... and not get any kind of refund for any of the shipping...
  • Hudsonkid,

Been there, done that. Just found Frank Dhluhy in the club roster. Thanks for providing a reliable lead. I understand that if there is a problem on his end, although it is unlikely, Frank will take responsibility and refund shipping. What a smart business man. :D
  • Frank is the best. Bought a lot of items off Frank and NEVER a problem or disappointment!

Can't say the same about a frequent ebay seller of flawless chrome Hudson parts.
  • Yeah, Frank is first class. Long time hudson club member, which keep in mind, doesn't necessarily buy you a lifetime license to screw people on parts, like someone out there. He's the real deal.

Frank treats everyone fairly, and really wants to see people get the right parts and wants them to be happy with what they got. I never had a problem with Frank or his parts, the only problem is that I spend too much at his tables whenever I happen across them at a meet, and too often.

Another person that has good stuff is that Bill Albright fellow out there in sunny California. He repro's the porkchops for 52-3's (and some other misc parts) but not sure if he would have the fender hornets. I cannot imagine that he wouldn't be able to turn up a few, probably using a few as paperweights right now. With the shortage of these, maybe he should make a few set....

Thanks for the heads-up. I shall file it away in my memory bank.
  • Hudsonkid & Hudsondad,

Although there is nothing that I need desperately, I think I'll touch base with Frank this week. As far as Bill Albright is concerned, he was very helpful in locating some obscure parts I was looking for. Thankfully, there are still some honest people left in the world.
  • Thanks for the leads, I have followed them up, but haven't found one yet.
