2007 Auburn Indiana National ?
I have been looking thru the Nov./Dec. WTN and planning on calling for Hotel and Plan reservation from Southern Calif. to Auburn, Indiana. Anything special I should know and how far is the meet from the airport and should I rent a car ? Whats the weather like in July ? Thanks, Ron

Having been born and raised 60 miles NW of the site, here is my take.
Weather can be hot and humid in July. Watch the weather for the two weeks leading up to the event and pack accordingly. If you are looking at big picture weather, look ESE of South Bend (Notre Dame), NE of Indianapolis or at Fort Wayne (if displayed).
As far as airport...South Bend Regional (then rent a car), Indy International (then rent a car), Detroit International (then rent a car). I am not sure if there is commuter service at Fort Wayne. I thought American or Delta was running hops to and from Chicago. Then still rent a car (unless you have some good friends who are willing to meet you and play host/chauffer.0 -
Yes it is hot and humid. I believe John Wayne Airport have a direct flyght to Detroit(actually in Dearborn). Then rent a car, It's about 3-4 hour drive. This might be cheaper than going to Fort Wayne. Other option is to go to Indianapolis and rent a car, about 2-3 hour drive. If you go to Detroit and drive, you might want to stop in Ypsilanti to see Jack Miller's Hudson dealership. Just a thought.0

I just made my reservations for the Nationals, and I'd suggest everyone that's going to do the same as soon as you can. The Auburn Inn was sold out last summer, The Super 8 and La Quinta are sold out on Wednesday thru Friday that week, so I ended up at the Holiday Inn Express.
I'm guessing this is going to be a great National Meet, there are a lot of special things going on. In particular, the new Hudson Museum opening for the HET Club. This is one Nationals everyone should try to get to! Can't wait!0 -

I procrastinated also and found the Host Hotel (s) booked. I called the Holiday Inn and they had some rooms available but I did a little more searching and was able to get a room at the COUNTRY HEARTH INN in Auburn just down the street from the National location. I reserved at $69.95 per night.

I booked mine on the internet Country Hearth Inn.com Hope this helps someone

I do not do alot of air travel so I was wondering if it would be better to make air reservations closer to the time of travel ? Like maybe a airport closer to me (Long Beach or John Wayne, I hate LAX) might have a better way of getting there and price or do I take whats there now ? Thanks again, Ron0

Isn't anyone driving their cars? We're in Arizona and drove to Kearney NB this year plus went to St Louis and other places. Went @ 5,600 miles in our '50 Super 6 club coupe.
We're driving our Hudson to Auburn in 2007, then to the east coast and down to Florida and back to Arizona along the sourthern coast.
How about it guys- drive those Hudsons!!
Take care and Happy Hudsoning!!!

BTW, is there any camp site being set up next to the display area? RVs and Tents?
Is there a security committee that needs volunteers to spend the night there to keep watch over the cars that don't move?0 -
Just a thought on the Country Hearth: I just booked a room, and it turns out that it's a smidgen cheaper to do it by phone, than on the Internet: $65.95. (Incidentally, note to all fellow cheapskates hoping to share their rooms with 14 or 15 others: this motel does NOT feature rollaway cots!)0
