No Spark

Here's a weird one. In trying to get my new Twin H running, my car suddenly quit. It has a pertronix system in it which has been working fine for a while now. In checking things out I have spark going into the cap but nothing coming out. The cap appears fine, the carbon button is good, rotor is good but nothing happens. I have continuity going through the cap and into the spring connected to the carbon button. The rotor passes continuity but still no spark. The only times I have seen caps quit is when the button is worn or destroyed, but I have no idea what is going on here. Has anyone seen this before?

    I had this same thing happen 'bout 30 years a go on a Hornet I had just done a tuneup on. The rotor had a leakage path that caused it to short out to the distributor shaft. It had continuity, but also allowed high voltage to short out. Try another rotor.. Hope this helps, Merry Christmas, Davew

    I would replace the rotor and cap. Is this a 6 or 12 volt system? I think pertronix sells both.

    It's 12 now. Don't know if Pertronix makes anything but the module for Hudson but I can check it out. Soon as my buddy's parts store open's this morning, I am going to get a cap and rotor ordered. I have never heard of a rotor doing that as I have been beating the cap to death figuring that was what was wrong. I am just going to change both and hopefully that will do it. I am about done fusing with this project now and need to get on other things. Might be nice to take the car for a drive and see if all my hard work and the infamous Twin H actually pays off.

    The cap was fine, it was a crack in the rotor. Ran right from the tip all the way to the bottom. How I didn't see that I don't know but once I looked for it I saw it and swapped rotors and it runs great.
