1952 Super Wasp Club Coupe Forsale
$950, Cheap but rusty and alot of work... still, a very desireable car and not easy to find. Even looks like orginal Texas Tan paint...

Looks more like Texas Toast to me. But for $950.00, you can't go wrong.0

I do love the looks of the SWB Hudson. Stubby little front end and a long rear styling....0
-
These are rare and the one to find if you like SWB coupes. This one is going to be quite an extensive project for someone. Priced right with a title, but needs someone who loves to weld.0
-
49 4 door in there also for sale looks pretty decent. Not far from me to drive but were are up here getting hammered by snow right now0

If it's a Super Wasp it's a 53. If it's a 52 then it's a Wasp. 53 was the first year for the Super Wasp model.0

Reminds me of my first girl friend.... ahhhh, those were the days!0 -

hey hudsondad, why don't you weld me up a wasp coupe...
I think I can speak for both of us, what would scare me about this one is the roof, that not only did the "kids" jump on, but sounds like it might have some rust thru on the roof. Otherwise, heck, I would jump on this one, and have hudsondad fire up the Miller... (and get about 200lbs of wire...)
Floors, frame, and body work is one thing, but a roof, getting that right, and straight, is another story.0 -

c'mon Dave, I guess you just can't see the vision of the finished product.
Much like the gear guy, I too can see thru all of the bad on this one.
hehe0 -

That's the problem, I can see the vision and it's not pretty! I bet you could see through lots of this car, especially if it's like the gear's machine. :eek:0 -
Just a note about dented or jumped on Hudson roofs.
In the late 70's I came across a 2 door Hudson that was very cheap. The principle reason was a roof dent. The dent was large and to top it off an unsuccessful repair left it a rusted and misshapen mess. I bought the car and used it as a daily driver. While I owned this car I enrolled in an auto body repair class at the local community college. The instructor was a man who had started repairing cars in the 1930's and knew many tricks which assured repair of areas that might otherwise be found too difficult to repair. One of the lessons we experienced was to take a large dent out of a roof panel. The instructor showed all how to use ordinary bumper jacks and wooden braces to roughly reposition the roof metal, and the while applying heat to the surface manipulate those jacks to remove the dent. Working small areas following a predefined pattern to relieve metal stresses allowed each student's practice dent to be fully removed.
I asked this man to look at my Hudson. While viewing the damage, he swore under his breath about the failed repair and told me a repair was possible but would take a lot more time. Again he guided me in the selection of bracing, marking of stress points and the application of torch heat and heat damning with wet rags. Amazing to me, after 4 hours of coaxing, the dent was removed and the roof popped back into shape. Would I do this again? Probably not... but those of you who are handy with a torch and own a few bumper jacks have all the tools needed (add patience) to repair a dented Stepdown roof.
Happy New Years0 -
I watched some craftsmen pop a dented roof on a 56 Mercury that had gone under a railroad underpass that was 2" short of what was needed by the New car hauler. They removed the headliner, covered the seats with canvas. Working on both sides of the roof, they used rosebuds to heat the crease all the way around. After some time running the rosebuds back and forth, they nodded to each other, dropped the torches and threw a large soaking wet blanket on the roof. A loud "BANG" and the darned thing was almost perfect. Not one drop of lead was used. They just filed out the scratches, primed, painted and it was on The Mercury Dealer new car lot the next day.. Amazing!

Maybe a candidate for bill a's hollywood roof?0

Maybe this is a good candidate for a roof chop. Hard to beat the original lines on these SWB coupes though. (JSRAIL) Don't you have a spare roof from your project???0

I sure do hudsondad. Some of the lower "B" pillar has been cut out about half way down the rear quarter window, but the rest is all. A small dent on one section (6" wide at most) but the rest is solid. Its not ready to come off yet, but it'll be available.
I also really like the lines on my SWB, though I personally prefer the Club Coupe to the Broughams.

Not really , its sitting in my warehouse as we speak , it has a 1956 Arkansas licence plate on it still ,the roof isnt bad at all - it sure was never walked on , maybe a tree limb ?? the dent was about a foot wide and two foot long maybe two inches deep, would have popped right out as it is now , it did rust a spot on the floor though . this car is a little ruff but is extremely rust free . none except the spot on the center of the roof and the floor below it .underside is real nice needing no reapair . also got a Pace Maker 4 dr. parts car in great condition .
Thanks for posting the link on this web site , a friend of mine was east of Rapid City when I saw it here , I called him and he got it and brought it home .0 -
Congrats on the purchase stateline! I like these body lines. What are your plans for it? Be sure and post more pics when you get it home!

Congratulations. If the '56 digits are for real, that car should be low miles.....! What does the odometer read?0

I have it home already - he picked it up the next day after I saw the link here. Are pics hard to post ? Im not great on a computor !!
Someone needed a speedo - its gone , Im pretty happy with the car , during the 50s my Dad had lots of Hudsons , even a couple of the P.U.s , Im wanting to restore it as close to stock as I can .0 -
Postings a bear, I don't do it enough to always remember how its done. But a lotta guys here know how.
Keep us up to date on your progress!0 -
Great buy! These are really scarce cars, it's good to see one going back together. You can post photos here in the album or on the MSN HET website.0

I like the chrome trim around the back window and the size also. Nice car also worked out a few dents with the torch and rag idea learning from the old man how to redo cars. A wet rag also helps when welding on spots where you dont want the metal to streach out of shape. Rose bud tech also works good on hail dents too.0

If a roof from a 48 coupe will fit the Wasp. Then I have a roof0

I just bought the car and it doesnt need a roof , it needs a grille, tail lites , right door , bumpers , and some of the chrome . I sent Hudson kid some pics to post of it .0 -
A few years ago I took my '40 to work, something I almost NEVER did. I don't even know why...just felt like it, I guess. That morning there was an earthquake. When I came home, all the floor to ceiling shelving in my garage had fallen and there was a 4 x 4 that fell out of the rafters standing on end right where my car would have been. That beautiful round shape would have been a big job to put right. I was later X-rayed in my nether regions and horseshoes were clearly visible...:D0

Here's the pictures stateline sent me.
Lucky dude, car looks decent for the price....0 -
Hudson kid , thanks for posting the pics, after I saw the link posted here I called my car pal , he was east of Rapid City with an empty trailer headed home . He stopped and bought it Sat. and I had it Sunday afternoon , I picked up a Pace Maker 4 dr. Saturday -it has most of the parts I need for the coupe .0

The roof would be the same with the exception of the rear window opening.0 -
blaiser wrote:If a roof from a 48 coupe will fit the Wasp. Then I have a roof
Brad, The main difference is the rear window. If you can live with a small window in a 52-3 body style then it will work. If not then it won't .0
