OK Folks--information please.

Please tell me about stainless ventshades. Yes, I searched---they are common on cars, but little mention on this forum.

If they are as useful as I think they are, I'd like to find a set for a 54 Hornet sedan.

Danke and Muchos Gracias

    JP,

Kgap carries them. Same as originals except the screw holes are in different places. but unless you are replacing originals and already have the drilled holes.... they are very authentic. I have a set on my 49 four door, all stepdown four door sedans (48 -54) use the same vent shades.

  • They are useful if it's raining and/or you want to leave windows ajar for ventilation. But then again, the cowl vent and wing windows provide good ventilation too. BTW, they were also available for the front wing windows.

    Dear Dual DAVES--

Thanks for the info--I had remembered seeing them for sale someplace (OK, it was K-Gap, but the last time I checked--I didn't look under "Accessories"--duh!). I think that keeping water out of the inside of the doors (some, most, or all) is a good idea----

Do ventshades help-- if/when one is caught in a rainstorm? It may not be a big problem now--but in its previous life rust (mainly surface) managed to form on the insides of doors, behind the interior door panels.

This should be a forbidden activity in the future.

  • Saw a few on ebay a few times if you do a forum search there is a thread on here about these. In my opion i think it would be hard to look through these on a car cause the window is kinda small havent drove one with them in so i cant really talk

A Hudson NOS set sold recently on EBay--I eyeballed those--

But the Hudson model application was unknown to the seller, and the shortest one was 12 inches long--the front window on a stepdown sedan is longer than that--so I figured that they must have been for a JET--in any case would not fit my car.

    Thanks

    JP,

I haven't seen the ones K-gap sells, but I'm sure they're good quality. As far as keeping water out of the interior, they're handy if you want to drive with a window slightly open during a rain. These accessories where not intended to deflect water as a means of preventing rust. Although I have the original ones on my front wing windows, I can't bring myself to clutter up the exterior by putting them on the other windows. Maybe some day.
