hello everyone, are coupes & sedans built on the same platform? i have been reading along here for a few months and would like to thank all of you for what you have taught me, you have beena lot of help! i ask because of all the posts lately about rusty coupes, i have a 52and 53 hornet sedan i also have a solid 53 sedan parts car (no title :(:( ) and know where to get a coupe but years of sitting outside in iowa with no windows has done it's work! is the transplant possible? i know it sounds like the musings of a lunatic but.....

  • The 1952 and 1953 Hornet chassis's are the same from the front bumper to the rear bumper. If the 53 chassis is solid have at it! There are minor differances in the 1948 thru 1951 compaired to the 52 and 53 chassis, mainly the trunk floor area involving the spare tire locatation and spare tire well, the rear bumper location on 48 thru 50 and the front fender parking light style and location on 52 and 53 models, however, most components will exchange between all stepdown years, with the most differances being the 1954.
  • Walt, the stepdowns will all interchange as far as platforms go. Long wheelbase with long wheelbase short wheelbase with short wheelbase. The real differences come with some modifications when its hydromatic vs standard or OD. Nothing major framewise but some stuff has to be changed in order for the iinterchange to work.
