New Hudson turns 50

Just a random rambling here.

Now that it's 2007, the "newest" Hudsons out there are... 50 years old. What was the price of a new '57 Hudson?

The oldest one is... 98! A 1909 Model.

The highest production year, 1929, are all turning 78.

I doubt that Hudson or AMC planned for these cars to last 50+ years. We have sound engineering, nutty enthusiasts, and a good type-club to thank for that.

Our cars are becoming more and more driving musems with every aging day. Best of luck to all for Hudson year 98, and let's make the next 100 years even better!

Since my age falls between 1909 and 1957 I find your observation rather depressing!!! LOL

I only wish I were in as good condition as some of these Hudson cars.

Before options, prices ranged from $2821.00 for a Super V-8 to $3101.00 for a Custom V-8. Lots of moola for 1957.

yep in 2009 the oldest Hudson will be a 100 year old car and then for the next 50 years a Hudson will become a 100 year old car every year. These are some demographic realities the HET club needs to face if we want to keep them on the road and going, and affordable for everyone who wants to get into the hobby.

If they weren't made so well though they wouldn't still be here. They drive better than most of their contemporaries of the same vintages.

A 1957 Hudson is still a more exciting car (with a better smile) at 50 years than anything being made today.
  • In Australia, a 1957 hudson was a very dear car to buy. you could buy 3 Australian built Holden cars for the price of 1 Hudson Hornet sedan in either a 6cyl or a V8. Our huddies were all assembled here as knock-down cars. A 1957 Holden had a 138ci 6cyl, 3 speed manual while the Hudson had the 308 or 327V8. All our Hornets were automatic's and only in 4 door custom sedans. NO HOLLYWOODS HERE. I own 5 6cyl and 3 V8 hornets and other hudson products as well. No power brakes, steering, windows and air conditioning were never available. Our 6cyl Hornets all used the HIGH ROOF 56 bodies with the normal 57 chrome work.
