Well, you guys all knew my reply was coming....

    here goes...

    Hey, Twin-H.....

    welcome to the Hudson Forum.

now that the welcome is out of the way, here's my thoughts on your original rants, which I think should be properly, and acurately addressed.

Call the cops, tell your dad who's a cop on all of us that criticized your website. I challenge you to do that. In fact, I welcome you to do that. Do you know why?

Well, I'll tell you why. Because you have no legal basis to make such a claim. In fact you have set yourself up, and even worse, your father, if in fact, he is a police officer, to a certain degree, because you cannot wield the power of knowing, or being related to a cop, to get the results you wish, by using it as a threat. I don't think you can legally do such a thing, but I could be wrong.

What I do know is this. What you might think is illegal about someone critcizing your website, is in fact, not. If you read H.R. 3402, which you will have to go to section 113, where buried in this item of legislation, states (paraphrased)

"an individual who uses the Internet with the intent to "annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass" someone without revealing his identity arguably commits a federal crime. Penalties include fines and up to two years in prison."

now, on the outside this looks great, but in all honesty, none of us have done anything to make our identities "anonymous". Quite contrary, I think we all got a good handle on who each of us are, but you? not sure who you are...

However, PM'm me, and anyone else you did, potentially, sets you up more so than it does with any of us. Just for argument's sake, I assume you are not trying to be anonymous. If you are, that hudson hornet you're dreaming about, will be a bit further out of reach.

Perhaps in the future, you might consider your approach to the members here. Your website needs a lot of work. The spelling and readability is horrendous, even now, my spyware filter trips every time I try and access any section of the site. I don't know if this is a product of your creation, or someone built the site for you. The design is flawed, the background makes the readabiltiy hard, taking random pictures from the web and attaching them to your website, without permission is poor internet ettiquette, and depending who's pictures they are, possibly illegal. (use one of my pictures, without permission, you will find out what a problem it is, I guarantee...)

So, what I would take away from this is the critique of the website, sure it needs improvement, but to look at it on a very basic level, I think it's great that anyone puts a website up about what I like. I wish it would have been executed better, because, for those that might not know about the subject matter, acesses that website, makes it very difficult for other hudson owners to promote the credibility and honor associated with the make, when the initial exposure they have is perhaps with a website like yours, with the issues we all pointed out.

So that's my take. Hope you can find something constructive out of this.

Thank you, Hudsonkid. You took the words right from my keyboard. Couldn't have been said better.
    Bob
  • Hay, im not trying to be mean your any thing but could everyone please stop talking about my website evenif the coments are good it's still bothering me I mean there are tons of Hudson websites out there are everones just looking in on mine. I can do what ever I want with my website it's not for any one else to decide but me and the hudson team,I don't need to be told my speeling needs to be fixed 100000 times I know that for my self, but still thanks for telling me some things like the text need to be brighter, like I said im not trying to be mean, but can we all just please forget about this thread it realy is bothering me.
  • Yeah, I'm going to have to say - enough is enough.

She's taken some pretty tough criticism - and taken it fairly well.

I, for one, am looking forward to her edits and changes - which she has stated will be forthcoming. That's all anybody could do.

At her age, she has alot of life ahead of her to be involved in Hudson automobiles if she so chooses. I'd much rather encourage that involvement rather than overly crush her youthful enthusiasm with too much criticism. So, lets back off and let the kid run. She's been adequately informed, numerous times.

  • Thank you :)

I second that wholeheartedly. There are few enough young people in this hobby as it is; the LAST thing I want to do is discourage anyone and crush someone's hopes and dreams.

So YOU GO, GIRL!! HUDSON GRRLS ROCK!!!!!!!!:D

    Kids,

Get your secret decoder ring ready and don't forget to drink your Ovaltine! :p
  • Hey...

did anyone happen to just check eBay for what the LOA decoder rings bring around christmas? Every year, they play "A Christmas Story" those decoder rings skyrocket for a good month. I bet you could buy these in July, and sell around December, and make 3X your money, just because of that movie...

Are you going to corner the market on decoder rings? Maybe buy some stock in Ovaltine to boot? :D
  • Also may i suggest that you might take some classes in Auto shop thats what we call it around here and some welding classes if you havent already get the basics down first i didnt do neither so iam learing from my old man didnt think i would need them later in life but i do now with the old hud being redone!
  • Dear Twin-H,

To explain what these guys are talking about: Evidently your spyware/virus problem is due to a program nicknamed "Orphan Annie" after the old-time comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie." What connection the spyware program has to the comic strip I don't know, since I've been fortunate enough to not have come in contact with the spyware. Must be 'cause I've got an iMac...:D  Rent the musical "Annie" sometime; it's actually pretty good and it'll explain the comic strip character better for those of us under 50 years old who may not remember such things...

Also, the guys' references to a "decoder ring" and Ovaltine are because back in the 1930's and 1940's, there was no television, but there were radio programs. The comic strip "Little Orphan Annie" was made into a radio show, sponsored by Ovaltine (yeah, they've been around that long). Kids could mail in a coupon and 5 or 10 cents to get a "decoder ring" that had a couple of dials with letters on them. Properly aligned, they could decode the message that was broadcast on the radio show; usually it was some bilge like "DRINK MORE OVALTINE" or something like that.

That's what these guys are jivin' about. Guys, remember the young lady is SEVENTEEN and probably not quite as saturated in American cultural history as we are... although an appreciation of Hudson cars is a real good start.

Keep up the good work, Twin-H!

    Best wishes, -Tom-
  • After checking I am not so sure anymore its Orphan Annie it could be the variant Sandy or Daddy Warbucks. Dave would know better he read the writeup at the security site last week Tuesday.
  • I think it's the Warbuckbot. Could be the Ovaltine or dreaded Piere Andre too. But then again, some say maybe Ralphie Red Cabbage. :p
  • Whatever you do, don't open up any files that pop up under your ActiveX controls that say yuleshooturIout.sit Must be leftover stuff from people having spare time over the christmas holiday or something.

    dangerous stuff...

SOmeone should notify cnet, mcaffee, and Norton, probably microsoft as well...

My Macaffee worked overtime getting my laptop cleaned up after that virus...

Now I wish I would have spent the extra $1000 and got a mac laptop... :p

You'll also find links to other HET sites over there - and as soon as we're sure your site is spyware clean I'd be happy to post a link from my site to yours.

Check out some of other folks sites and see how they're doing it - may give you some useful ideas.

Of course the spyware warning could be from Twin-H "hot-linking" pictures from other sites where the spyware could be emanating from...
  • HudsonKid,

I am kicking myself that I didn't make one as awesome as yours. That is right on the money. I might get a glitter kit and put that on a jean jacket where you will have to admit it would look brilliant.

Here HudsonKid I made this for you and would be really hurt if you do not adapt it as your new avatar and better than that make a T-shirt with it and wear it to work.
