Hi---I mailed my 37 Hudson banjo type steering wheel off to Australia for restoration on ll/6/06 & it never arrived there. Does anyone have one of these lying around that they would be willing to sell? Thanks---Cliff Minard.

  • Don't give up too soon Cliff. I shipped my headers I made to Jet-Hot in Pascagoula, Ms. to be ceramic coated. They shipped them back, and they never arrived. After lots of phone calls to Fed-Ex, it was determined they were "LOST". Even though these were "Custom Made" one-of-a-kind headers, Jet-Hot had them insured for $500, and that's all Fed-Ex wanted to pay me. I told them I didn't want the money, I wanted THOSE headers. I decided to give them more time, and meanwhile started making another set. 2 months after they were suppose to arrive, they were delivered. I ended up selling the second set to a club member who also was putting a Chevy in a Step-down. Next time I have to send something that rare, I'm going to insure it for enough to MORE than make it worth-while if they loose it. Good Luck, and maybe it'll turn up soon.
  • I'm amazed that these places like UPS and FedEx have all this high tech equipment with the tracking and still are able to lose things. Go figure!

I sold a WGD carb to a Hudson guy in Austalia last year and it took 3.5 months to show up. We had both given up hope. I did go by ground mail service and did have insurance, but once it left me I could no longer track it. Out of the blue it did show up. Do not give up hope yet!

Cliff, I've had items take over two months to make it from austrailia and i've had it take less than a week.

Do you have a pictures of a 37 banjo wheel?

Why did you have to send it to Australia to be restored, there are good steering wheel restoration people here in the US?

My mother sent me two coins from Ontario, Canada to California. Naturally, when they didn't arrive we assumed they were in somebody's pocket. Nope. Arrived ELEVEN MONTHS after she mailed them!

Hi & thank you each & every one for answering my "Sad Story" post. I will give it more time, but for now I will be applying for my $1,000.00 Parcel Post insurance. There is no one in the U.S. that I know of who does the same quality & type steering wheel restoration that Pearlcraft of Australia does. This will be the second restoration for this steering wheel. The first one was done about 7 years ago, cracked one year later & was repaired under warranty & was told that was the last free repair. Since I had eventually discovered Pearlcraft, I concluded that they were the way to go. Thanks again everyone. Hudsonly---Cliff Minard.
