51-53 are basically the same. the grille center is 52-53. 51 has a different contour to meet a different hood and does not have the continuation of the triangle. 53 grilles do not have the triangle therefore lack some holes to mount them. parking lights are different in 51 and are different between sr and jr models.
pacemakers were the first short wheelbase and were made in 50, 51 and 52
  • You're correct, the 51 to 53 grills would be the best bet. The first short wheel base step down was the 1950 Pacemaker.
  • 51 and 52 grilles will fit and 53 is the same except it doesn't have the triangular center bars (earlier pacemaker may not have the triangular bars). The side lights I believe are 52 and 53 wasp/super wasp/ 52 pacemaker. (maybe 51 pacemaker?) Hood ornament is 52 wasp only I think, although the base may fit other models. The headlight rings are stainless steel, not chrome/white metal.

    Pacemaker was available from 50-52
  • were the short wheel base cars built in 53 also and will the 308 fit in the short wheel base cars ?? thanks
  • no short wheelbase cars lin 53, except the Jet. hornet eng is a bolt in. beware of using studs as cyl head will not pull straight up off of studs in a short wheelbase car, BILL ALBRIGHT
