WOW, our own personal thread!
Can't spell...oh, forget it.
Anyway, I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. Went to a Swaporamadamadingdong and a Hudson tech session on Sunday. The host of the tech session had a 37 Terraplace coupe with working electric hand in the (heated) garage where we met. He also had another late 30's convertible there under restoration. Pretty cool stuff.
Today, I worked on the gas vent for my garage furnace. Dam wasps (no, not Hudsons - the flying kind) love to build a nest in the rain cap and plug things up. Got done just in time to replace the sway bar link pins on my SUV. Big fun. What happening with you?0 -
This reminds me of the hudson chat, waaaay long ago.0

Well, I spent the weekend (well, driving down and back both days) in Philadelphia. As I said before, one of my other hobbies is collecting vintage fountain pens, and I actually have been able to become quite a historian about a specific pen company, and regarded as a the "expert" on the company. It was a long weekend, disappointing, sales were slow, sold one pen set, albeit a $1250 set, but didn't do as well as anticipated. I did pick up a great item, a hard to find pen in a great color, for my personal collection, but now got to settle up with my "friends" at some point, since I got one part from this guy, another from that guy, etc... sorta like building a hudson, but on a smaller scale. I think this one might cost me a couple of bucks, but I know I can figure something out. too tough to leave money on the table. (BTW, the pen is probably retail ~800-1000.. )
The kids are both sick, runny or stuffy noses, coughing, etc.. Abby, my little girl didn't go to preschool on Friday, or Monday, and i'm thinking that she might not go today, but I'll have to wait to see what she's like when I get home. I kept her home, mainly because when I was at preschool last wednesday, the teachers were complaining about those parents that drop their kids off, when they're coughing, hacking, etc... and they should leave them at home. I didn't want to be that kind of parent, and make more kids sick, so I figured, just let her stay home. Charlie, he seems to be doing fine. He's more resilient than last year at this time, when he got a week in the hospital.
I haven't seen my hudson in about a month. I guess it's still there, hey, it's inside, that's the best part. Figure when it gets warmer,i'll start doing the OD swap, and get the driveline where I want it, maybe do the front end, then look at getting it ready for repaint.
I don't think I need too many more parts, one for sure is the gaskets and weatherseals from K-gap, should come to around $600, I got most of it, but want to pull all of the windows, and do it right.
So other than that, just hanging out at work right now. waiting for 7:00 AM.
wonder how our canadian friend is doing?0 -

ha... you can come in and chat with us. Just kidding, everyone's really invited.0 -
Ah, the pen collector. I remember. Looks like there's some moola in that racket. It never ceases to amaze me how many things there are that people collect. So, how does one get the Jones for pens? Well, I think that Hmom and dad probably gave you pens to play with when you were just a wee little Hudnut. And now, the pens have become like comfort food. How's that for a quick analysis?
Ah, kids, don't you love um when they're all ooie and gooie. I can see the teachers point about passing the germs. Glad to hear that they're getting better. They may be little, but they're sure tough.
I'm not doing much with my Hudson either. Now that I have heat in the garage again, it's a matter of getting some free/tinkering time. Not much left to do though, just minor details.
You should have purchased from K-gap early. The prices for rubber stuff has gone up by about 30%. Blame it on the cost of oil.
Our Canadian pal is probably in dream land right now...Zzzzzzzzz. That sounds like a good idea. I think I'll do that now.0 -
Excellent thread and the cool thing is no one can see it but us. Sweet. Have a collection of Fountain pens myself mostly Waterman,Sheaffer and some late 30's Parkers plus some odds and ends. I still write my letters with a Waterman love those pens. Also collect old watchs. Wearing a 1950's Bulova self winder. I love old technology. Also have a sweet Rotary with the two faces and you swivel them to see the other face.0
-
yeah, I started out with them Parkers, Sheaffers, Watermans, and Wahls, went to the odd stuff fairly early. I still got a few decent parkers, nothing really waterman, sheaffer or wahl. I kept my Mandarin Yellow Parker Duofold senior, (which someone at one of the Doc meets commented on) and got a great senior in jade, and My select few conklins (I kept an OS Duragraph in BHR) Mainly chiltons are my favorite. I have had about every variation there is, and have been fortunate to have a great number of pens, if even for a short while.
Ahh.. old watches, I collected those for a bit as well. My fancy, old hamiltons, I got a few, mainly, I wear my re-issue Piping Rock, and I got a great 30's deco hamilton that I wear on occassion.
As far as the thread, everyone can see it.0 -
No they can't see it HK, use your imagination.....0
-
The others can see this because they are still dazzled by the glitterazzi.0
-
Hey, maybe you guys could start a pen/ glitter sub-forum and be co-moderators:D
Ooops, I should have posted this in an all-access thread. Sorry for barging in on you un-invited:rolleyes:
Keep the funny stuff coming.

Matt, you've given me an idea. Hey hudsonkid, how about adding some glitter pens and those with the trolls on top to your collection.0
-
sad to say, I think I got a few that fit the bill, give me a day...0
-
What, no Doc Hudson pens?0

Are you kidding? What REAL pen collection would be complete with out those as well as the pen/ straws that you can twist into different shapes?
We're talking serious pen collecting anyway...0 -
Hey Dave and 51hornet, be careful out there. Sounds like driving a hudson can be dangerous....0
-
Hey hudsonkid,
Thanks for the heads up. I've heard reports of problems with combustion occuring outside of the engine. One could lose their shorts if not careful.0 -
I would have peed on it to put it out, but then again perhaps that would be like peeing on an electric fence...0
-
I would have peed in my pants and then thrown them. Then, I'd change and go on my way. But if you're going to use the tinkle hose, make sure you drink at least eight glasses of something before hand. And for the love of God, don't ground yourself.0

funny, I thought of something. I got my heater unit out of my hudson right now, and the wire that goes to it, is just hanging....
it's been like that for 2 years.
Ooops....0 -
Dave, 51Hornet, I'm not feeling the love on this board lately, how about you guys? seems we got a few people here that just don't wanna be polite...0
-
HK, you are looking for love in all the wrong places. Sometimes (what I secretly mean is all the time) people are set in there ways and a lot of what you see as explanations of procedures is based on I did it this way and it always worked for me. I take all posts with a pitch of salt. I rarely post a explanantion unless I have actually done it and see it for myself that it works. As you know lots of posts are basically what people read in a book or saw on car crazy. That said we got some excellent guys on here dispensing solid solutions. The other crap I rarely take notice of.
Remember forget the haters .....we got the love and we got Rondey and Ampanddj...what more do you need.....0 -
hudsonkid & 51hornetA,
Sometimes the love gets pushed aside by snooty people who like to whine. But, you're right, some people just don't know how to be polite. Just have to ignor them, they're not worth the time or effort. We've not only have the love thing goin' on, we've got Rondey, Apu (Homer and Marge too) and Hello Kitty.0 -
Well, what I say, is I got Dave and 51Hornet, that's all I need in this world.
thanks guys!
you made me feel all better!0 -
Hudsonkid,
Right after I joined this forum, you and Hudsondad were the first members to reach out (via PM's) while not trying to sell me something. At least to me, that says volumes about what good people you are. Glad your feelin' better. 51hornetA and I are here for ya. Feel the love...:cool:0
