Is this original ??
I have a '54 sedan with apparently an original leather interior. While it certainly looks like an original, I suppose one could have had a good shop do the job many years ago, (or even Mexico -- as was popular in the hot rod days back then), and make it look stock.
Does anyone else have an original leather interior in a '54 and does it have the door pattern as shown in the photo below??

It looks original to me. If not original, a good duplication.0

Definitely original. Not too many '54s came with the leather option, especially sedans.0

I have a '53 Hornet with leather, and it looks pretty similar.

You pic looks just like those I've recently seen of a 54 with original leather interior.0

That's good enough for me ! Henceforth --- it's a '54 with all original leather upholstery.
Thanks for helping me clarify this.

Just wondering. There are a bunch of things which don't look similar to the corduroy upholstery in a 54. In the Hornet, which I assume this photo is of, the horizontal strips are checkered not smooth. Where are the ash trays? Off the top of my head I can't remember if the stitching on the center panel is similar. (I thought the horizontal stitch line goes above the arm rest) The top and bottom strips have embossed stitching, not real stitching... rather interesting. I have only seen convertibles with original leather so I do not doubt any ones identification. I'm just wondering about the differences.....ANY THOUGHTS???

Good points Lewis. I'll attatch a picture of the front door panel here, and the seats in another post, so they come up right away.0 -
There's a big difference in how cloth and leather was and can be applied. Hence the difference in seams from cloth to leather upholstered cars. The door mounted ashtrays disappeared with the 53 models.0

Yes indeed, that's exactly what I've seen in both a 53 and 54 4dr Hornet. It's sad that your interior isn't in better shape. If it were, I'd sneak over and steal it. It's the same color as my cloth upholstery. Maybe one day, when the wife is not looking, that cloth will turn into leather. Hmmm...then I could sell the cloth (which is new) and put that toward the leather...AH, see what you've got me thinking.0

Red Burke in Fort Bragg California has a "Factory" 1950 Pacemaker with leather seats. Whoever originally bought that car, ordered it with leather from the factory. It needs to be redone, but it looks like the same stiching pattern as on the convertable.0

LOL Dave !!! I've got a '54 sedan with cloth in the garage, so I'll go out and take a look at that with respect to door ashtrays, hardware, etc. Should be the same except for the upholstery material I'm thinking.

I have a 54 Super Wasp with ashtrays in the door. Of course, they could have been added later since it was reupholstered at some point.0

Glad to have made you laugh.BTW, if you hear a noise in the garage, just ignore it.
Sad to say that from 1953 on, Hudson dropped the door ash trays (not that I would use them) and metal trim as well as the wood graining. I wish I had all of that on my 53. Oh, well.
Everything on leather upholstered cars was indeed the same as those with cloth. If you're going to redo the leather (don't forget to save the original - maybe donate it to the Hudson club), try Fryer's. They can make leather interiors for just about any car, all shipped to your door and ready to install.0 -

Either that or maybe they were ordered from the factory. Nah, probably a dealer/owner installed option. It would be nice to know for certain. How does your installation look? Professional or ?0 -

Dave, do you have an address or phone number for Fryer's ? I'll see what they say about this interior, and if they have patterns, etc.
